hi:) this is the meeting for 22 february, wednesday 2:45-5:45pm, unofficial meeting :)

today, we fell in at 3pm at the field. it was an official meeting and so we were in our guides uniform falling in at the field. then colour party took over and the flag managed to break successfully :)
then, we had 3 minutes to change into our guides uniform, changing parade started!. we changed about 5--6 times before we could finally go to the canteen to prepare our food for the party.
it was a thinking day celebration and all each patrol occupied a table and we ate together and also bonded with the sec ones. at 5:00pm, we fell in and we were told to clean up the are. after that we fell back in. then, we had to get into our buddy patrols for buddy patrol corner to bond and play with the sec ones and get to know them more. after that, we fell into the horseshoe formation. kalyani and Ms lakshimi gave out the crime prevention badge to all those who got it. also, Ada got her silver badge :) then, we sang taps and fell out. we were dismissed!

hi:) this post is about our meeting on the 15 of february, wednesday 2:45-5:45pm, unofficial

today, we fell in at 2:45 pm. Patrols reported strength and then we had 3 minutes to change out of our penafore. then, we fell back in, spot check was conducted and after that, we fell out.
then, we went to the basketball to play badminton because it was Ada's and Chomel's initiative.
after that, we decided to play other stuff, so we went to the place outside computer lab 4 and played double whacko, and pass the message. then, it was time to fall into the horseshoe formation, announcement were made and we sang taps, after that, we fell out and we were dismissed.

Today, we fell in at 2:45pm, then attendance was taken and patrol reported strength, after that, we had 3 minutes to change out of our pinafore and fall back in. After that, spot check was conducted and we fell out. we went to an empty classroom. the sec ones when to another classroom and was briefed on testings. whereas, the seniors were practising thinking day cheers. at about 4 pm, we fell in at the quadrangle and did foot drills. at 4:30, we fell into the horseshoe formation. announcements were made and we sang taps and fell out.

this post is for wednesday 2:45-5:45pm official meeting 8 february 2012:)

HELLO, we fell in at 3pm on wednesday, we had official meeting so the guides had to be in their full guides uniform. dove and hibiscus was doing flag. after flag, we had 3 minutes to change into our pe attire(changing parade) afterthat, we had to proceed to an empty classroom and join the sec ones. we introduced ourselves one by one. we had to say our name, class, and patrol while the PLs were trying to work out the visualizer. after that, we went to the next door classroom as the visualizer there was working. after that, the PLs used the slides show. they introduced themselves and raftly what we do in guides and the cca days and timings. afterthat, the PSes had to introduce themselves. then, we fell in at the quadrangle, then we played double whacko and splat:) then, the seniors had to fall in and they were told to change into their guides uniform and proceed to the hall for photo-taking. after photo-taking, we went back down to join the sec ones. we had to teach them footdrills! each senior had to take one sec 1 and teach them fall in and fall out:) after teaching them, the PLs fell the seniors in seperately from the sec ones. while the sec one were being tested, the seniors did footdrills. then the seniors fell in and the bronze badge, silver badge, and gold badge were given. we fell out and then fell back into the horseshoe formation at the field. colour party took over. after that, we sang taps and fell out.

this post is for wednesday, 1st february 2012, 2:45-5:45 pm

today, we fell in at 2:45pm, patrols reported strength and we had 2 mintues to change out of our penafroe. after that, we fell back in. spot check was conducted and the agenda was read out. then,
we sat down at the parade square and we were divided into three teams, we were gonn ahave a structure compeitition. one group did an obstacle course, the other, did a bench and the last one tie a quad and had a 'spider web' in the middle of the quad. dion, elizabeth, and a few other selected guides went to the back to rearrange the poles as they were messy and were not according to their colour. time was up and we fell in at 5pm at the parade square. one girl from each group had to tell and explain to the PLs what they tied and the purpose of it. then, we fell out and were given 5minutes to untie our knots and keep the poles. then we had footdrillsand fun footdrills. at 4:40 pm, we fell into the horse shoe formation, sang taps and were dismissed. thankyou!:)

today, we fell in at 2:45 pm, patrols reported strength and we had to minutes to change out of our penafore then, spot check was conducted and the agenda was read out.
it was a testing meeting so we all had to go into the classroom to do testings. after that, those that did not have testings to do had to do structure. they had to learn to tie a raft. after that, at 4pm, we had footdrills and fun footdrills. at 4:40pm, we fell into the horseshoe formation. we sang taps and then fell out. thankyou:)

this post is for wednesday, 25 january 2012 from 2:45-5:45pm.

today, we fell in at 2:45pm. after that, patrols reported strength and we had 2 minutes to change out of our penafore. spot check was conducted and the agenda was read out. we were going to have SRIT conducted by the PSes!:) the PSes then briefed the guides on what they had to do. then, they went to change into their dark coloured attire and prepared the games stalls while Ms Lim briefed the rest on the cca draft.

the guides were split into 4 teams, blue, purple, pink and red. then they had to go round to play the games. we played twister at the sec one classroom. different coloured paint were put onto the paper plate and the guides had to play twister on it. then, we had a toothpaste game where we had to transport the toothpaste from one person to another using a different body part for each person. there was also dont forget the lyrics. they had to listen to three sopng: astronaut, the one that got away and one thing. then, they had to fill in the blanks. the last game was to teach the guides how to peg flag.
the last game was a mass water game. two teams had to stand on one side in a line and the other two teams stand on the opposite side. we played dog-and bone. it was kind of messy as the instructions weren't clear. when we finally played, it started raining so we didnt get a chance to play the wet game. the guides were then given 5 minutes to change into their dry clothes. then, we fell into the horeshoe formation, sang taps and fell out. thankyou!:)

today, we fell in at 2:45pm, then, we had 2 minutes to change. after we change, we fell back in. the agenda was read out and we proceeded to the 1/6 classroom. we had to sit in our buddy patrols. we were going to do dental health proficiency badge. we were given a list of tasks to do. we did two questions together as a buddy patrol and we did the rest of the questions at home. after that, we had to answer both questions on a mahjong paper. at 5pm, we had to present what we've done in front of everyone else. then, we had patrol corner! we talked about guides meetings and what we would like to see and what we do not like to. at 5:40pm, we fell into the horseshoe formation. we sang taps and was dismissed after that. thankyou!:)

we fell in at 2:45pm outside the home econs room. then we had 2 minutes to change, after that, we fell back in. then, we had spot check and the agenda was read out. we had to go to an empty classroom after fall out. the PLs then showed us some requirements and what we had to do for thinking day project. w e had to form groups of max. 7 people and work on a project each. at the same time, dion handed out our testings paper to show us what we have done for testing and what we have not. after that, elizabeth told us to do those testings that we have not done. most people went outside the classrooom and learnt to tie a few knots. at about 5:30pm, we had footdrills. and at 5:40 pm, we fell into the horse shoe formation. some announcements were made. after that, we sang taps and fell out. we were dismissed! thankyou:)

hello:) this is the post for friday, 6 january 2012
we fell in at about 7:55am at the quadrangle. most of us were excused from class to prepare for sec one orientation campfire. some of us rushed down from our classes and some of us did not hear. so we had to shout a few times until everybody came. the PLs read out a list of names to ensure that everybody who was supposed to be dismissed from class were dismissed. and those who were not suppose to be dismissed from class had to go back to class. the PLs then took attendance to ensure everyone was present. after that, we went to the canteen where all our bags were to take our valuables and consent forms. then, we fell back in at the parade square. we were then told to get into our components to start on the preparation. we were dismissed for lunch/recess at about 11:30am, we ate in the canteen for about 4o minutes and then continued on our work again. at around three plus, we had to start clearing up and finish up. at 4 plus, we fell in. we reported progess. after that, we were dismissed for dinner. we had dinner for about 45 minutes to 1 hour. after dinner, we had 10 minutes to change into our full guides uniform. item-costumes and fire pit-black shirt and jeans. later we fell back in. the seniors then told us it was time for cca orientatio. we fell out and then tried to promote guides:) some of us went around to paste stickers on people and some of us just stayed at our booths to cheer for guides. the PLs then fell us back in at about 6:45pm. then, we prayed as a coy before the campfire started. the sec ones then started strolling in and climb onto the structure bridge. we were all around the bridge to welcome the sec ones and help them to walk on the bridge as some were quite scared. after that, the campfire started and we all had fun including the sec ones:) the campfire finally came to an end at about 9:20pm. then, the components help packed up and help to keep some stuff. then, we fell in and the seniors gave us some food to eat as some of us were hungry. the at about 10 plus, we were released to go bathe. backdrop had 3/5 mins, item had 3/5 mins, structure had 5 mins and firepit had 8 mins. after bathing, we brought up our bags to 2/1. we were going to sleep there but ms lakshimi told us that we shouldn't use an aircon room so we went to 2/8 classroom. thus, we brought down our bags and soon fell asleep:)

DAY 2

we woke up at 6 plus and fell in at7am. we fell in at the parade square. michelle then told us that we had to run three round on the track. after that, we played splat and the PLs told us to go to the canteen. we took our phones and wallets and went out to buy breakfast. after breakfast, we fell back in and the PLs told us to clear up thee school. like whichever place we have used. at 10:45am, we went to the canteen to do our logbooks and elizabeth told us what to do for testings. at 11:30am, we fell in into the horseshoe formation in the canteen. we sang taps and fell out. we were dismissed:) thankyou!

hello:) this post is for the 4th of jan 2012 2:45pm-5:45pm

we fell in outside the gym at 2:45pm. then, attendance was taken and we had 3 minutes to change. after that, we fell back in and we had spot check. those patrols that did not bring their logbook were punished. they had to copy some guides law and its explaination. they had to hand it up the next meeting. then, Dion read out the agenda for that day after that, we had to get into our respective components and start on sec one orientation campfire. the seniors came btw. At 5:15pm, the components stopped work and clear up their stuff. then, we had footdrills for about 20 minutes. then, we fell in and we got scolding from the PLs as we were slacking we were slacking although we had 3 days left. then, dorothy and sherwynn asked components to report progress later, melissa told ask how disappointed she was as some of us did not greet her. after that, we fell into the horseshoe formation, sang taps and fell out. we were dismissed:) sorry seniors D:

hello:) this post is for friday, 30 dec 2011 7:55am-5:00pm unofficial meeting!

today, we fell in at 7:55pm, patrols reported strength, then we had 3minute to change out of our pinafore. after that, we fell back in and had spot check. the agenda was read out and we were gonna have a full-dress rehearsal for sec one orientation. the seniors were also coming back to take a look. the PLs told us to go into our components after fall out and start preparations.

-firepit went to get the wood, and newspapers and started soaking the wood. they also set up the structure for the firepit and place zinc sheets, aluminium foils, bricks and the sand.
-structure were busy tying the knots and quads.
-backdrop was hanging their banner and backdrop to see how it looked like on the actual day.
-item took down the stages and started rehearsing their skit and dance
at 12:45pm, we did footdrills for about 15 minutes. later, we fell in and were dismissed for lunch, we had one hour for lunch! at 2:05pm, we fell back in, patrols reported strength and then we fell out after everyone was back. we continued with our preparations. the seniors came back! (Kaili's badge) they took a look at item's performance and gave them advices on how to improve, the other guides from the different components also sat down later all to watch item's performance. then firepit was gonna attempt to start the fire. after all the preparations, we started to clear up at 5pm and then fell in after we were done clearing up! other components also helped one another. after that, we fell into the horseshoe formation, sang taps, fell out and we were dismissed!

hello:) this post is for wednesday 28 december 2011 unofficial meeting 7:55am-5:00pm.

We fell in at 7:55pm, patrols reported strength and then we fell out to change out of our penafore. then we fell back in. there was spot check and the agenda was read out by dion. we were gonna have a full-dress rehearsal for sec one orientation campfire. the ex-PLs were also coming . they told us to get into our respective components after falling out.
fire pit soaked the wood and prepared the campfire area and the wood were lit up by the fire.
item brought down the stages and did many rehearsals.
structure tight the quads and the bridges.
backdrop touched up on their banner.
we had lunch at 11:15-12:15. after that, we continued with our preparation.
at 5:15, we fell in to the horseshoe formation, sang taps and fell out.

SEC 4 FAREWELL AND GUIDES 3D2N CAMP!:)

21st-23rd November 201. official meeting, guides 3D2N camp!

DAY ONE!
Today, we fell in at 8:15 am,. we were late as we were still pegging the flag, hence, we only fell in at 8:15am. we first did role call and inspection. It was sparrow's and orchid's turn to do colour party!
Janice was A, Catherine was B and Sophia was C. after that, we had 3 minutes to change out of our guides uniform and into our pe attire. we had to change 4 times. then, we proceeded to the hall with all our props, costumes, gifts and other stuff that we needed for sec 4 farewell. After that, we had a few dry-runs and rehearsals. after all the rehearsals and everything, we felt kind of prepared and ready for our item. So, we had 3 minutes to change into our guides uniform for GOH. we fell in under the bridge near, outside the HE room. We changed our positions and decided to stand at the passage way form the HDB gate as the seniors were gonna come in from there.we had to use our burettes and gloves. The PLs lend to the people gloves for those who never brought it or didn't have it. we quickly fell into our positions and the PLs helped to neaten our uniform and make sure we were all standing at the correct positions. we waited for the seniors to come for about 3o minutes, then, Siying came first, followed by Bhavani, after about another 15 minutes, the other seniors came. they went to each one of us and 'bullied' us:P haha, after that, the PLs came to us and helped to put our badges and burettes etc.. back into their proper place:)
then, we went to change into pe attire and we had lunch/party.. after lunch, the PLs fell us in and told us to clear up our tables and make sure it was clean. then, we fell back in after about 10 minutes.the PLs then told us to get ready for sec 4 farewell so we went to the hall. we had to change into our costumes and prepare our proops. the seniors came about 15 minutes later, they had to sit in one row and each one had a table and chair to themselves:) the sec 4 farewell performance started!

Olivia and Kalyani were the emcees. Dove and Hibiscus started out first, they did a skit and a dance performance. after them, was kingfish and ixora's turn, they did a skit about a girl who dreamt that she had to find some stuff and each stuff had a saying about the seniors. then, amanda lim and rachel seah did a ballet performance. followed by oriole and morning glory, they did a skit on Wizard of Oz and then had a thank you speech. Lastly, it was orchid and sparrow's turn, they did a skit base on the story Alice and the wonderland, they did a mini dance after that. Then, it was the PSes turn to do something, they did actions to the song 'what makes you beautiful' by one direction! Then, we went to sit behind the seniors and watched a video montage, after the video montage, the PLs did a mini dance item for the seniors. they did 'l.o.v.e' by hi-5. after that, we the seniors also did a surprise last-minute mini performance for us.:) after that, we all went to sit on the steps of the stage and sang 'count on me' by Bruno Mars. we swayed to the music and started singing to it. then, it was time to give out the gifts. to the seniors. after everything, we fell in at the hall, we were told that we were gonna do SRIT. so we had about 5 minutes to change into our dark coloured shirt and slippers. we then fell back in at the hall. we were then told to clear all our props and stuff. then, we fell back in, the PLs told us to work with our buddy patrol. the games we played were: the mine game( they will splash water at us if we made a wrong move) , then we had to pass through a passage way which was filled with strings tied everywhere, we had to pass through the strings without touching it, one person will lead the buddy patrol and the rest will be blind folded. then we played an animal game where we had to imitate the action of the animals the PLs told us. the fourth game was a eating game, we were blindfolded and we had to eat some stuff and guess what we ate. the last game was the mass game, we fell in at the quadrangle and had to stand according to our height, then we were being splashed with a hose by the PLs. then, we had half an hour to bathe. at about 7pm, we ate dinner, we had nasi lemak. then, we played some games for the coy to bond:) we had COH after that, we all sat in a circle and gave feedbacks. after that, it was time to sleep! dove, hibiscus, ixora and oriole had to sleep at 2/8 classroom morning glory, sparrow, and orchid slept together at 2/7 classroom . we carried all our stuff and went up. we brushed our teeth, took out our bags and slept :)

DAY TWO!
everyone woke up at 6am, as fall in was at 7am we brushed our teeth and went downstairs to the canteen. the PSes re-pegged the pole because the tent was right in front of the flagpole so we could't fall in.( some of us went to peg a tent for our testings in the morning on day 1). then, we fell in, it was dove and hibiscus' turn to do color party. after that, we fell out and we were given 3 minutes to change into our PE attire. we changed four times before felling in at the basket ball court. we had to find a partner and then we exercise a little by doing some jumping jacks. then, we played some games. after that, the PLs told us to form two rows and we ran two rounds around the field. then, we went to the canteen and had our breakfast. we had bread with jam and milo for breakfast. after breakfast, we fell in. we had to get our umbrella and water bottles. we had to walk from school to macritchie. the PLs told us that we will have new buddy patrols temporarily. then, we were given a map so we had to find our way there. then, we gathered together at a shelter at macritchie. After that, we fell in when all the different groups arrived at macritchie, we were then split up again to go int our different stations. after the games, we took a bus back to school:) then, we had lunch, dorothy, nicole, and charmaine came. after lunch, the PLs told us to change into our shorts and go to the AVA room. the PLs were sitting at the back of the AVA room with dorothy, charmaine and nicole. we watched harry potter and the deathly hallows part one!:) after the movie ended, we went to the canteen, we were gonna do outdoor cooking! we had to cook our own food for dinner, after setting up the fire and cooking our food, we all sat together with our buddy patrols and bonded while eating:) . after eating, we fell in, we were told to clear up and wash up all our containers, tins, cutleries, bowls and plates, we also had to wash the floor to remove the stains. we had to clean the drainage area and the sink. after that, we fell back in and we had to do our logbook. after that, we had night walk! the PLs cut out strips of black trash bad and tied it to blind fold our eyes. then we were given glow sticks, and we all had to walk to the third level where the bridge was. then we had to take off our blindfold. then we were arrange as a team according to our glow stick colours. after that, we heard a voice recorded message, ten of our friends were kidnapped and we had to look for them around the school. we were only suppose to find those 'missing friends' that has the same glowstick colour as the group. it was rather scary but really fun. after that, we fell in at the basketball court after finding all our friends. then, we had somemore free time, so we did our logbook. after a while, we had COH, we sat in a circle and gave our feedbacks and everything. then, we could go back to our classrooms to sleep:)

DAY THREE!
at about 6:25 am, everybody woke up, fall in was at 7am. at 6:50, we went down to the canteen and changed into our guides uniform. then Michelle told us that fall in will be at 7:15 instead so we were all relieved. then we fell in, it was ixora's and kingfisher's turn to do colour party. after that, we had 3 minutes to change into our guides uniform we changed three times before going for breakfast. we all had cornflakes for breakfast, and some had drinks for their patrol, depending on the PSes. after breakfast, we were split up to go to the different areas of the school to ensure everything was clean and neat. then, we had foot drills. after foot drills, we all went to change into our guides uniform. then, we fell in, and had prize giving ceremony. we sang taps after that, and fell out. we could go home!(:

hello:) this is the post for friday, 18 november 2011:)

We fell in at 7:55am that day. patrols had to report strength and logbooks were collected. then, we had 3 minutes to change out of our penafore and then fall back in. spot check was conducted. after that, the agenda for that day was read out. we had to get into our buddy patrols to work on our sec 4 farewell performance. hence, after fall out, we went into our buddy patrols. at 9:30, kalyani walked around and get the buddy patrols to go to the hall for a full dress rehearsal. thus, we carried all of our props and costumes and whatever materials we need to the hall. however, the badminton people were having their cca in the hall, hence we had to wait for the PLs. the PLs came and told us to walk at the side so as to not disrupt their training. the PLs then told us the order of our performance. We did a few rounds of practice to improve on our performance. after that, we fell in and we were dismissed for lunch, 1 hour. when we came back, we fell in at the parade square. the PLs told us to fall in at the area outside the hall after we fell out. so we ran and when to the place outside the hall. we fell in as usual and then shifted us into our GOH positions. As all of us were tired after awhile, the PLs let us have a water break. then, we went back into our positions. after all the arrangement, we fell out and the PLs told us to fill our water bottles to the brim and proceed to the outdoor stage. we had water parade. later, we rested for awhile. then, at 3pm, Michelle fell us into the horseshoe formation. we then had 3 minutes to change into our penafore. later, we sang taps, fell out and we were dismissed. thankyou:)

hello, this post is for Friday, 11 november 2011:)

today, we fell in at 7:55 am at the roundabout areas. the PLs collected the logbook and patrols had to report strength. then, we had 2 minutes to change out of our penafore. afterthat, we fell nack in and we had spot check. Sara read out the agenda for that day.We were suppose to do sec one orientation campfire preparation before lunch. after lunch, we had to work on our sec 4 farewell preparation. elizabeth told us to get into our different components after fall out. so we did and break up into the different components to start work. the sec 4 seniors also came!

at 11:55 am, we fell in at the canteen. as firepit have not cleared up yet, some people fell out and went to help them. after that, we fell back in again lunch was from 12:05 to 1:05(1hr) after that, we fell back in. patrols reported strength. then we fell out and went into our buddy patrol. after that, we fell in at the quadrangle and did fun foot drills for a while. then, we fell into the horseshoe formation, sang taps, and then fell out. we were dismissed. thankyou!:)

hello:) this entry is for 10 november 2011, thursday , 7:55-5:00pm
today, we fell in at 7:55pm, outside the printing shop and PSes reported strength. after that, we were given two minutes to change out of our penafore. this time we fall in outside the home economics room. as usual, the PLs inspected out attired and sara read out the agenda for the day. we fell out and proceeded to our individual components for sec one orientation campfire. yup, the agenda is sec one orientation:)

we got into our individual components and started work. fire pit, started soaking their woods in kerosene, and structure tied quads and the bridges. item continued on their script and dance. backdrop continued drawing and painting their backdrop.

for point one module 1.4, each guide have to put on a pair of high-heels and walk to and fro in the classroom. they had to bend and pick an object up and pretend that they are getting in and out of the car with their high-heels on. for point 1 module 1.5 , each guide have to change into an appropriate set of clothes to either attend a funeral, work attachment or wedding. then, they have to explain to the PLs what occasion that the set of clothes were for and why it was appropriate.

oh, and after lunch, the seniors came by and we did foot drills.
At 4:45, we fell into the horseshoe formation, announcements were made and we fell out, we could go home:)

hello:) this guides meeting was on the 8 of november 2011, tuesday:) unofficial

YAY! This is the first meeting after guides had stood down long ago for the end of year examination. fall in was at 7:ffam, outside the bookshope. as usual, PSes reported strength. some of the guides did not come as they had their 'N' levels exam. some had to practise for their upcoming performance at the drama and art night, and some were overseas. we were given two minutes to change out of our penafore and fall back in again. the PLs inspected our attire and the agenda for the day was read out. we had to do and prepare for the sec one orientation campfire. we fell out and break into our various components.

Fire Pit:
those people in firepit soaked half of the wood. they took a short break after soaking some wood. after a while, they ran out kerosene and was unable to carry on soaking wood. a few of them went to backdrop to help out and the rest went to help structure. however, structure didnt need any help tying the structure. elizabeth suggested that they could saw some of the broken blue-green pole to yellow pole.

structure:
as it was slightly drizzling when guides started, we took the gadget poles and tied two quads and one platform. when the drizzle stop, they took the black-white poles and the blue-green poles. we ted a total of 5 quads, one quad failed, 42 square lashes and 6 times of the snake lashing, the one for the platform.

item:
item went into a classroom on the first level and started their preparation, they did a new script.

backdrop:
they drew and painted a new backdrop at the canteen before fall out, we had footdrills and elizabeth told the coy that those that did not pass their testing for point 1 module 1.3 to 1.5, had to bring a set of clothes for the next meeting either for wedding/ funeral/ work attachment. we fell out shortly after that and we went home:)

hey:) this guides meeting was on the 8 of august 2011, monday:)

Today, we fell in at 2:45am at the place near the bentinck room, patrols reported strength and we had two minutes to change out of our penafore then fell back in at the same place. We had spot check on our nails and all, after that, we had to go into our different components for sec 1 orientation campfire to prepare, plan and discuss. at about 4 o'clock, we had foot drills for about 20 minutes at the quadrangle. after that, we also had suicide running, we split into buddy patrols and the first that came in didn't have to run [oriole and morning glory:)], the rest had to do suicide running again. after that, the second patrol who came in didn't have to run, and two patrols were left to compete. after that, we had three minutes to put on our penafore, and we ran back to the quadrangle to fall in. we fell into the horseshoe formation, announcements were made and then we fell out. it was the last meeting before step-down. that's all. HELLO:) today's guides meeting is on the 27 of july 2011

today we felll inat 2:45 pm, PSes reported strength. after that, we had 3 minutes to take out our penafore and fell back in. after that, spot check was conducted and the agenda was read out. then, we had to go into our sec 1 orientation campfire component to do what we were suppose to do/complete.
backdrop joined structure. after that, we fell in at about 4 45pm, we had to do footdrills, we also had to run 2 times around the quadrangle, then we ran about another 4 times around the quadrangle because we exceed the 50 seconds timing, it was a form of punishment. afterthat, we did somemore footdrills, before we fell out and had a water break, then we fell back in and continue to do footdrills. then we fell out and fell into the horseshoe formation, we had 3 minuted to change to put on our penafore. then we fell in again. announcements were made, and catherine was awarded with her bronzae badge. the PLs also gave out the silver badges. congrats:D

HELLO:) this meeting was on 13 july 2011:)

we fell in at 2:45 outside the home econs room, then we had two minutes to change out of our penafore, after we fell back in. spot check was conducted, agenda was said, and patrols reported strength.
we had to fall out afterthat and proceed to a empty classroom to do our collector's badge.
we had to make a scrap book that has at least 6 types of leaves, with 20 pictures of a patrol member
(taken from facebook) and a research on a collection. we had about 1 and a half hours to do it.
Ms Ng came and before we started on our scrapbook, she talked to us about what we should do. for example, have initiative. and what we should not do, like take our time. she also talked to us about having respect.

afterthat, we broke up into our patrols and did our scrapbook, later, we have to present it to Ms Ng.
then, we headed outside the classroom for footdrills, after footdrills, we fell into the horseshoe formation and then sang taps and fell out.

1. Prepare a power point presentation. Include in your presentation photographs of 5 items that are potentially dangerous in your house (eg. curtains near candles), and photographs of how these 5 items can be rearranged/stored so as to minimize the potential for danger.

2. Write up:

Discuss the following in the writeup (point form is acceptable but cannot be overly brief):

-How to guard against accidents when using gas appliances, kerosene stoves, naked lights, open fires

-5 precautions to take in a house with small children

-Another 5 precautions to take in a house with old people.

-3 ways to prevent accidents:

-When engaging in watersport (including swimming, yatching, boating etc.)

-When cycling/ skating/ walking in a park

HELLO:)

this is about our guides meeting on the 6 of july, wednesday:)

we fell in at 2:45 pm under the overhead bridge. Then, we had 2 minutes to change out of our pinafore, after that, we fell back in. Patrols reported strength, spot check was conducted. after that, we were told to find an empty classroom and take our stationeries and the guides handbook. we had testings!

the sec 2s and 3s had to go to another empty classroom. claudia, vanessa and christine when to take the gadget poles and the box of strings. we had to do testings by tying a quad and a platform in 20 minutes in a pair.

after that, they went back to the another classroom to join the rest. Dorothy, Melissa, Sherwynn and Nicole came to visit us.

after doing testings, we ran out of the classroom and fall in according to height. we did the satu dua thing. after that, we had normal footdrills, we marched a lot because we made quite a number of mistakes. then, we had a water break before continuing footdrills.

after the footdrills, we sat down in our patrols and the PLs showed us some of the guides logbook from the previous seniors. some of the logbooks were as old as 1994! the PLs said a few requirements and standards for the logbook. such as having at least 75% of the pages filled with words, designs also had to be nice. while the PLs were talking to us, they passed us a tin of sweets to eat:)

after that, we fell in into the horseshoe formation. we had 3 minutes to put on our pinafore, then we fell back in again. announcements were made and then we sang taps and fall out:)

hi everyone:)

this entry is about our guides unofficial meeting on the 29 of June 2011.

we fell in at 2:45 pm outside the home economics room, then we were given 2 minutes to change out of our pinafore. after changing, we fell back in and patrols reported strength, we also had spot check. after that, we were told to go and find an empty classroom. we had the introduction of the new PSes first. we had to say our name, class, the patrol that we are in, and one thing about anything. after that, we had the introduction of the new PLs, they had to say their name, class, patrol they are in and their different roles/positions. after the introduction, we sat as a patrol and talk. then, Ruth(Ms Ng), came into the classroom and we greeted her. then, she talked about having initiatives and having respect. the PLs also told us the rules and requirements for the logbook, footdrills, etc.. we had to take down on what they said.

after about 45 minutes, we ran out of the classroom to the space in between the D and T block and the performing arts room.

we had footdrills. after about 20 minutes, we had to run to the canteen and bring our water bottles along when we ran back. after resting for awhile, we continued with footdrills, we stood in a line from tallest to shortest and did the satu dua thing, we did it a few times because we made mistakes. about 10 minutes later, they told the PSes, sec 3s and sec 4s to fall out after that, they did blind footdrills, we had to close our eyes and then have footdrills. after that, we had anther break and then we had to fall in at the quadrangle. we had suicide running, we had to get into our buddy patrols, after that, oriole and morning glory patrol won the first round, so they got to rest, the remaining buddy patrols had to run again. after that, we fell in into the horseshoe formation, we had to change and put on our pinafore, we had 2 minutes. after that, we fell back in, announcements were made, we sand taps and then fell out. we were dismissed.

HI ALL:) im Vanessa, the new historian for this blog:)

This post is about our June training camp 2011:)

DAY 1!

we fell in at 8:05 on the first day which is on the 21st june. Oriole patrol and Morning Glory patrol did colour party that morning, after that, we fell out and had changing parade. we changed three times, after that, we went to the field to pitch our tents, there are a total of 6 tents and 2 canvas tents. each buddy patrol gets one tent:) some of us helped pitch the canvas tents, while the rest of us pitched the normal ones. we also had to make a shoe rack using gadget poles and the strings:)

we had to put newspapers under the tents, and then a canvas sheet on top of our tents.

we pitched the tent for about 2-3 hours. after that, we had bag check. we had to bring our bags to the parade square. then PSes had to fall their patrol members in. the PLs then checked our bags. money, valuables, food, sweets, and fans were confiscated. After bag check, we put our bags down at the canteen and we fell in, then we had to fall out because we had to change into our guides uniform for handover.

we proceeded to the hall, and we fell in into the horseshoe formation.

the new PLs are:

after handover, we had a party:)

we all bonded with our new patrols for about 45 minutes. after that, we had to clean up the mess.

we had changing parade, and then we fell in, the new PLs, gave each patrol a shirt where we have to decorate it, as our patrol flag.:)

After decorating, we fell back in, we had to proceed to an empty classroom with our writing materials and guides handbook to do testings. after about an hour and a half of testings, we had to run to the canteen. we fell in, and the new PLs instructed us to choose one member from our patrol to be blind folded, this is related to our outdoor cooking, after each member from the patrol gets blindfolded, we had to turn around, (we were in the canteen), there were food scattered around the canteen, and we had to answer a guides-related question if we raise up our hands the fastest, the fastest patrol will have to lead their member to the food you want to have for the outdoor cooking.

there were, maggi mee packets, egg, mushroom soup, chicken soup, vegetables, hotdogs, and fizzy drinks. after that, we split into our buddy patrols and cooked!

it was a good dinner:D

after that, we had to fall in about an hour later, then the PLs told us to clear up the mess that we have made, at the place where we wash our stuff and the canteen. after that, we fell back in. Then, we had to take our showering materials and clothes.

the first 4 patrols, dove-ixora, went to shower first, they had 3 minutes to do so, after that the next 4 patrols, oriole-orchid, had 3 minutes to shower too, after that, we packed our stuff and fell back in, we were gonna have a night walk:)

each patrol set off every 15-20 minutes, in the mean time, we were entertained by Dorothy.

The night walk had 4 game stations, the first was we had to find a piece of paper at the roundabout, after that was at the flagpoles, we had to act a scene from Phua chu Kang, the next was at the back of the parade square, we had to find a piece of paper. we were led by glow sticks on the floor, the last station was when we had to gather all the pieces of paper we collected and form something, the papers all had numbers and the numbers represented the letters in the alphabet. it formed a title of a song, we sang it together as a coy. after that, we went to the canteen to have COH. we fell out and then went to sleep:)

DAY 2 :)

we woke up at 6 15 in the morning, clara woke us up. the PSes pegged the flag while the rest of the guides went to pack their stuff, and changed into their guides uniform, before fall in, we had to lay out all our stuff on a canvas sheet.

afterthat, we fell in sparrow and orchid did colour party, the, we fell out and had changing parade. we ran to the basketball court and fall in, we had a mini lecture on taking initiatives and being fast and alert. we were also told to respect our PLs and seniors, afterthat, we had to run 2 rounds around the basketball court, we were led by clara and sherwynn.

after running, we split into 4 groups,(our buddy patrols) dove and hibiscus is one group against ixora and kingfish, oriole and morning glory is one group against sparrow and orchid. we played captain's ball for about half an hour before going to the canteen to eat our breakfast.

we had hot milo and bread( with peanut butter and jam) for breakfast. we had 45 minutes to eat including changing into our dark coloured t-shirt and bermudas. we were going to have SRIT . after getting our first aid kit and patrol flag, we fell in, then PSes were given a score sheet which is for SRIT. then, we were briefed and then we went out of school for SRIT! we spent about 1 hour plus, out of school before going back.

there were 8 stations, but we didnt manage to complete all because we didnt have enough time, 4 were outside and the other 4 was inside.

then when we went back to school, we played some more games before falling in at the quadrangle, we fell in according to height, and then the PLs and ex-PLs took the hose and sprayed water at all of us!

after that, we were given 3 minutes to change into our dry clothes and fall in at the canteen, we had lunch. our lunch was rice,otah, fishcake, and cucumber:)

after lunch, we cleaned up the canteen and we had structure, the sec 1s were seperated from the seniors because they have to learn the basics and how to tie quads etc.. the seniors went to the quadrangle. we were split into 2 groups and we had to build something, we had about 3 hours.

after structure, we went to the basketball court to fall in. we did alot of footdrills as a form of punishment and we ran 1 round on the track. we also had water water parade.

then, we got our stuff and went to shower. after showering, we had to do the logbook and eat our dinner, after dinner, we went to the AVA room to watch alice in the wonderland, we had to stop the movie half way because we had COH. we had to talk about 1 thing we like, 1 thing we didnt like, and 1 thing that needed improvement. after that, we fell out and sleep:)

DAY 3!

in the middle of the night,4 am, it started to rain, so we had to run out from our tents and run to the canteen, most of us got our sleeping bags but some didn't. we fell in after that, we were told to sleep in the canteen since we have nowhere to sleep. At about 645 in the morning, PSes had to go and take their patrol member's bag and everything that was in the tent, some of the tents were flooded and everything got wet. after bringing the bags and everything else in to the canteen, we just fell in and then had breakfast after that, we didn't fall in in our guides uniform and had colour party because the field was wet and most of our stuff too. after breakfast, we cleaned up the whole area,took down the tents , and fall in into the horse shoe formation. there was prize giving ceremony. after the ceremony, we fell out and then went back home:)

I am proud to announce that HIJ 1st Coy has once again achieved a BRONZE PNA award :)

Thinking Day 2011:
- Our coy set up a booth to teach brownies and guides how to fold foam roses, straw hearts, friendship bands and other handicrafts. Our booth was really well-received!
- Our coy also helped to lead in the sing a long sessions and cheer sessions at the event :)

We collaborated with the School Team Badminton CCA to learn the tricks on how to play a game of badminton! We even had a few friendly matches with the badminton players!

Things to note:

HAPPY ENROLLMENT, SEC ONES! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

I'm sure all your PSes are really proud of you, being able to enroll in so quickly!

Today was an official meeting so we had to report in our guides uniforms at 1445hrs in the field. After falling in, we had the usual spot check and we marched into the horseshoe formation. The colour party took over, broke the flag and we had a dry-run of the enrollment procedure.
As it was about to rain, we fell in at the canteen. We went up to the Indoor Sports Hall to do the ceremony but we can to come back down as the netballers were already using the court. We ended up doing the ceremony at the canteen as the netballers had already pushed the tables aside for space. We continued with the dry-run and Qarissa arrived along with Ms. Lakshimi and Ms. Ng. Afterwhich we started on the official enrollment ceremony despite the limited space given.
We had the usual changing parade after the ceremony. We were given three minutes to do so. As our Sec Ones were unsure on how to do it as some are shy, we helped them along. After a few rounds of changing parade, the seniors were given permission to fall out to set up the enrollment party! After about ten minutes, the Sec Ones joined us with their tired faces. ): But their faces light up upon seeing the food and presents on the table, heh.
One of the patrols said grace and we started the party! I'm sure everyone had alot of fun, opening sparkling juice and fellowship with the patrol, it's something that is hard to come by.
After about an hour, we had to clean and pack up before falling in. We were then given another ten minutes to pack everything up, including picking up the litter, washing the sparkling juice bottles. Afterwhich we fell back in into the horseshoe formation. Announcements were made, that next meeting would be on the 13th of April, Wednesday. It would be AGM! ): We sang taps, fell out and were dismissed. ^^ Hope everyone had a fun time today with their patrols!

Hello everyone! Today's meeting was from 1445hrs to 1745hrs, unofficial.
We fell in at 1445hrs outside the Home Economics room. We were then given three minutes to change out of our pinafore and fell back in. The patrols reported strength, had spot check and the agenda was read. Today was Olivia's and Michelle's initative!
The Sec Ones had to assemble at the parade square for their colour party while the seniors split into two groups, one group consisting of twenty girls for cookie baking and the remaining girls to orgiami. I was in the cookie baking group. ^^
We had to bring our Home Economics materials for example, containers, apron, towels and newspaper and wait outside the HE room while the origami girl went into an empty classroom for further instructions. Ms. Tan was there to supervise us, in case of any emergency.
Olivia gave instructions on how to bake the cookies with Sara's help. We were given flour, sugar, vanilla essence, chocolate chips / rasins to bake our cookies. We took about twenty minutes to complete all the steps listed by Olivia and another twenty to bake the cookies.
While waiting for the cookies to bake, we washed up and talked for a bit. After our cookies was done, we cooled them down and packed them in before putting them at the canteen with our bags.
Meanwhile, the origami girls were taught by Michelle to do swans and other paper items!
Also, the Sec Ones who passed all their testings went to the canteen to practice changing parade. They were taught how to tie their scarf, put their belt on and pin the badges in the right places.
Seniors had to fall in at the parade square but due to lightning and thunder, we moved into a sheltered area outside Computer Lab Four. We then fell in in a line, from the tallest to the shortest. Not soon after the Sec Ones joined us, and the lightning alert stopped so we head out to the quadrangle to fall in. The Sec Ones made up half the coy, that is alot of Sec Ones!
We then did a bit of footdrills before falling into the horseshoe formation to be dismissed. Announcements were made, sang taps, fell out and we were dismissed! *big smiles*

We fell in outside the General Office at 1445hrs and were given two minutes to change into our PE attire. We fell in and the PSes reported strength and spotcheck was conducted. The agenda was read out. The Sec One and Twos had to take their writing materials to an empty classroom for their treasure hunt while the Sec Threes and Fours had to go to the hall with their badminton rackets for a fun session with the IJ Badmintion girls. Charissa and Rukaiya's iniatives were today!
For the treasure hunt, the girls had to find about 64 jigsaw puzzles around a classroom. They divided themselves into three groups with a mix of girls. A picture of the jigsaw and an hour was given for the girls to find the puzzle peices. Before they started, they needed to think of a group name and cheer. They then went to their different classrooms to find the pieces.
We also had fun with the badminton girls as we've learnt many tricks from them.
At about 1615hrs, everyone fell in together. Some Sec Ones were still doing their colour party. We then had footdrills.
At 1635hrs, Sherwynn fell us into the horseshoe formation, and then were given two minutes to change into our pinafore.
Announcements were made, we sang taps, fell out and were dismissed! (:

Today's unofficial meeting started outside the General Office at 1445hrs as it was raining heavily. We had to shout "Fall In" a couple of times as not everyone fell in with us. We were then given two minutes to change and were warned not to run in the rain in case we slip and fall. Afterwards, we fell back in to report strength, get our nails and hair checked and the agenda was read. We fell out and the intructions were told. The Sec Ones had to take their guides handbook and stationaries to an empty classroom while the seniors just had to assemble in another empty classroom. We ran into a classroom and settled down but we merged with the Sec Ones as the teachers had announcements to make. We were asked if we were insterested in a CIP. Afterwhich, the seniors went out of the classroom and the PLs asked for four volunteers to help take gadget poles and twine to the area outside the General Office.
The seniors assembled outside the General Office and were split into our Buddy Patrols. We were having a competition which was to build a structure out of the given poles in fifteen minutes. We then had to explain out structure and what is it's purpose.
After all the presentations, we had to dismantle our structure and put it back where we found it. We then had to take our writing materials to an empty classroom - we were told to plan out script for AGM.
At about 1640hrs, we had to fall in at the parade square where the Sec Ones were already. We did some foot drills while waiting for Catherine to break the flag! We were then given two minutes to change into out pinafore and we recieved news that she broke the flag! (: Sherwynn then fell us in into the horseshoe formation. Announcements were made, sang taps, fell out and were dismissed!

Today, we fell in at 1445hrs outside the Home Economics room. We followed our usual routine and were given different instructions.
The Sec Ones had to go to the parade square for colour party, while the rest of us went to the Primary school netball court to play captain's ball! We divided ourselves into four groups and had a fun time during the game. We had a waterbreak before sitting down at the grandstand to listen to Bhavani singing and teaching us Math. O: Afterwards we had to think of the games that we wanted to play. The Sec Threes suggested and few and so we decided to play them.
We sat on the floor of the netball court and played Apple Banana. I totally forgot what it was about but hey, fruits are goooooooood. We also played the MRT game which was really painful as we had to shout an MRT station or else our not-so-friendly friends sitting beside us would have to hit us really hard. Yes, it was painful. ): We also played Splat!
We then had a short water break before falling in. The whole coy didn't assemble at the court as the Sec Ones did not know so we had to shout "Fall In" really loudly so they'd come to the court to assemble.
We had to be punished as a whole coy as the Sec Ones were late. We ran three rounds really quickly before falling back in to do footdrills. It wasn't a pleasant run. ): Afterwhich the seniors had to fall out while the Sec Ones marched in a squad formation. Qarissa told us to take notice of which junior who is unable to turn or march in sync with the coy and make amendments. The Sec Ones were also punished for they did not take the testing time seriously. ):
We then fell in into the horseshoe formation and we recieved our profi badges! Thumbs up to colourful sleeves. (Y) After collecting our badges, we sang taps, fell out and were dismissed.

Today we fell in at 1445hrs outside the Home Economics room. After the patrols reported strength, we were given two minutes to change and fell out. We fell in again, and had spot check and the agenda was read out. I had to rush to get the items for my initiative and I was really scared. ): I went into and empty classroom and assembled everything. The Sec Twos and Threes streamed in and I had to start my iniative.
The guides had to get into groups of four or five people and they were given a packet of one kg clay. They had to make the world flag, trefoil and enrolment badge using the clay given. There wasn't much time left after teaching them the second badge, I had to leave them to do it. Closing to the ending time, the guides had to pack up and paint the badges at home as presents for their Sec One enrollment.

While the guides was in the classroom making things out of clay, the Sec Ones and Fours were at the basketball court playing different games. They played captain's ball at the netball court followed by Jacob's ladder outside the computer lab, the MRT game, H²O and whacko!
After all the activites, we gathered at the parade square, getting ready to fall in. We fell in and did footdrills, fell out and were waiting to fall in into the horseshoe formation but we were released without falling in. O: Everyone collected their wallets and phone and head homeeee.

Today was an unofficial meeting, we fell in at 1445pm at the flagpole. We were given two minutes to change out of our pinafore. There was spot check, and reading of agenda.
The seniors had to fall out and find an empty classroom while the Sec Ones were being tested for colour party. Caitlan and Charis were already in the classroom waiting for us and we did yet another profi badge! ^^
Firstly, we had to come up with sketch based on one of the events stated on the board. Afterwards, someone has to either say a prayer or lead a guides cheer. After everyone was done with the sketch & prayer / cheer, we were given ten minutes to think about our views on the assembly talk today (which was about the library and twinning programme). Meanwhile, Ms. Ng came into the room and found out we were not foing the profi badge with a tester around! Ms. Ng then had a talk with Caitlan and Charis. Afterwards, Ms. Ng had a talk with the PSes.
After the activites for the profi badges, we had to fall in at the quadrangle.

There, we did footdrills till the other PLs came to tell us to fall in at the basket ball court as we were going to play, CAPTAINS BALL and BASKET BALL!
We divided ourselves into four groups, two groups would compete against each other in basket ball, while the other two groups would compete against each other in captain's ball! After about half and hour, we had a water break before exchanging games.
About an hour later, we had to fall in at the basketball court. We then fell out and ran towards the parade square to fall in. We then did footdrills there.
Afterwhich, we fell out and fell into the horseshoe formation. Announcements were made on CIP briefing and when the next meeting was. We then sang taps, fell out and were dismissed!

Today was an unofficial meeting, we fell in at our usual spot at 1445hrs. We were given two minutes to change out of our uniform into our PE attire before reassembling at our fall in location. We did the usual reporting of strength, spot check and reading of agenda and afterwards, we had to fall out and find an empty classroom, bringing along our stationaries. The Sec Ones were in one classroom while the rest was in another room. The seniors were told to get into our buddy patrols and do our profi badges and today we were doing the Speaker badge!

We were doing a monologue for the badge. Given fifty minutes, we had to create a paragraph and each patrol member had to say at least one line from the paragraph. We had to say it loudly and dramatically in front of the guides. Five minutes after all the performances, Sherwynn fell us in and we did footdrills till the Sec Ones joined us. The Sec Ones were taking their time to come so Sherwynn reminded them to be a little quicker. When we all fell in, we had to wait for a few minutes while the PLs arranged us for something special... (wait for it)...

SUICIDE RUNNING!

Many Sec Ones did not know what that meant and therefore we had to explain it to them. I'm sure they would've understood why it's called suicide running now! After many rounds of running in lines and cheering, we fell in into the horseshoe formation by Sherwynn. We were given three minutes to change into our pinafore. The Sec Ones forgot and ran into the horseshoe by mistake. ): It's fine, you guys will rememberrr!
Sherwynn reminded them not to run across the horseshoe and to be more aware. Announcements were made, we sang taps, fell out and we were dismissed!

Today was an official meeting, and we fell in at 1445hrs at the field in our full guides uniform. The flag was put up in time so kudos to those who pegged the flag and for everyone who helped! There was a strange small boy holding a bowl, trying to hit everyone, with it was scaring everyone with his antics. Sherwynn fell us in while we tried to ignore the strange boy who was tugging at Sherwynn's skirt (?!). We did the usuals of spot checking, forming the horse shoe, colour party take over, breaking of flag, saying of the oath, colour party falling back in and then we had to fall out to start on our colour party. We were given three minutes to change into our P.E attire but instead we took five minutes. Dorothy then told the Sec Ones not to help the seniors for colour party and there was an improvement to three minutes and a few seconds! We still had to change in and out for a few times before the PLs were satisfied with our performance.
We then were allowed to fall out and prepare to start the party! We had to prepare food for our Hostess badge and thankfully everyone passed. It was commendable as we were only given a day notice to prepare the food so kudos!
As it started to rain, the colour party had to rush out to take the flag down. So while we were eating, a cake was brought out with balloons to celebrate Nicole's and Clara's birthday!

I'm sure everyone had a great time eating and bonding with our patrols! At about 1745hrs, we fell into the horseshoe formation. Announcements were made and Sherwynn warned the Sec Ones not to run across the horseshoe as it's sacred and nothing should be in the horseshoe (which means, if a leaf is in the horseshoe, someone has to fall out and pick it up.) and if they do so again they would be punished. ): We fell out and were dismissed.

Today is an unofficial meeting! We fell in at 1445hrs outside the Home Economics room. The patrols reported strength. We then were given three minutes to change out of our pinafore and into our P.E attire. We then fell back in for spot check and the reading of agenda. We fell out and ran to the quadrangle to teach our new juniors their commands with our buddy patrols.
Ms. Ng then came, and assigned the Sec Twos and Threes to go into a classroom to help fold straw hearts. Some of us folded foam strips into roses, built the wooden items and painted guides board. Dorothy was walking around to check on the progress of the buddy patrols. After about ten minutes, Dorothy then fell the Sec Ones in to test them on their footdrills. The seniors then had to fall in to do their footdrills. At about 1715hrs, we had patrol corners to come up with what we want to bring for Thinking Day party on Wednesday.
After deciding on what to bring, we fell in and did footdrills for a while before Sherwynn fell us into the horseshoe formation and were given three minutes to change into our pinafore.

Announcements were made after falling into the horseshoe. We sang taps after, fell out and were dismissed.
Thinking Day Celebrations will be held at Kuo Chuan Secondary school on Saturday. Next Tuesday on the 22 of February, we would have to wear our full guides uniform as it was the actual day of Thinking Day.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY EVERYONE! ♥ ♥
Today was an unofficial meeting at 1445pn outside the Home Economics room. There were only two Sec Ones who fell in as the rest were not sure when to fall in so the two Sec Ones were assigned to find the rest of the Sec Ones.
We were then given two minutes to change out of our pinafore and fall back in. The patrols then reported strength, and there was the usual spot check. We then fell out to teach our new Sec Ones the basic marching commands, like kekanan (right), kekeri (left), keblacan (180°), fall in and fall out. We also had to teach them the knots that are essential for colour party. It was tough for the new Sec Ones to remember so many commands especially those who did not learn Malay. Dorothy fell us in and tested the Sec Ones but they did not know the commands very well so we were given five minutes to brush them up on what they did not know.
She then fell us in again to test us. The Sec Ones were still confused on what commands were which but they were getting better and better! Jiayou! ^^
The seniors then fell in and did footdrills to show how the Sec Ones how it's done. After all the footdrills, we had to fall into the square formation by Sherwynn. We then had to fall out to change into our pinafores in three minutes. Sherwynn then fell us back into the horseshoe formation. Announcements were made, we sang taps and fell out.

Anyway, like I said Happy Valentine's Day and good luck to Sec Ones for colour party!

Today was an official meeting and the Sec Ones would be joining us!
Sparrow and Orchid had to peg flag and everyone had to come down early to help us peg the flag. By the time the flag pole was up and steady, it was already 1530hrs. We were met with difficulties as the lashing which we used to tie the flag pole kept snapping and also, we did not peg the pole down tightly which led to it almost falling down on the guides but we managed to prop it up again. The PLs then had to come down and help us.
We finally fell into the horseshoe formation at about 1535hrs. The colourparty, Claudia then took over to break the flag and fell in again. We then all fell out and ran to the hall for our photo-taking!
Sherwynn fell us in into the line formation to arrange us into our phototaking places. Ms. Lakshimi, Ms. Lim and Ms. Soh then sat in the first row with the PLs in front of the coy. We then took a few inform and formal shots, and our group shots followed. We were then given four minutes to change into their P.E uniforms and fall in into the parade square.
As the parade square was occupied, we head to the quadrangle to meet Ruth and our new Sec Ones. Afterthat, we had the usual meet-and-greet session, introducing the coy to the Sec Ones. We then played a few games to bond us together. Claudia had to change into her uniform to take down the flag as she was the colour party.
Close to the ending time, we fell into the horseshoe and a few Sec Ones made a mistake of running across the horseshoe. We then fell in again at the field. We were scolded for not getting up the flag pole by 1500hrs and that we need to teach the Sec Ones not to run across the horseshoe.
We fell out and were dismissed.

Heh I think I wasn't present for today's meeting but I'm still going to write about it!
Today, the guides fell in at 15oohrs at the area near the Home Economics room but due to the many people passing, the guides fell in again at the area outside the gym room. They were then given three minutes to change out of their pinafores.
After the usual spot check and reporting of strength, the guides had to find an empty classroom with their stationaries.
In the classroom, the guides settled down while some were giving out already marked testings. Dorothy assigned those who have not pass their Point 1 Module 1.4 to get changed into their clothings and head to the next-door classroom. They did what we did the last meeting, which was to "cat walk" from the back of the classroom to the front, pick up a pen cap from the floor and get into a car. In the mean time, each patrol had to memorise a part of a song, the lyrics for their profi badge and had to perform by 1610pm. Dorothy then called up the guides one by one to tell them which testings they had to complete. Sherwynn and Nicole then wrote on the board the names of those who needed to march for Total Defence Day.
Those who had to perform headed to the parade square to try out the marching route. After about five minutes, the rest of the coy fell in at the parade square with the TDD marchers.
There were alot of hustle and bustle as it was raining and they had to ensure the guides are not out in the rain.
At about 1715hrs, the TDD marchers joined the coy at the alley outside the chapel and art gallery. The completed coy continued with the foot drills till about 1740hrs where they had to fall in into the horseshoe formation. Announcements were made and they were dismissed.
The next meeting would be the week after Chinese New Year and the Sec Ones would be joining us, so we had the chance to teach them the footdrills! Yayyy!

Hello!
Today was an unofficial meeting. We fell in at 1445hrs, outside the Home Economics room. We were given two minutes to change out of out pinafore and fell back in. After that, we were told to take 16 black whites and 16 bluegreens to the quadrangle. We were then split into four groups to make a quad each in twelve minutes. As we were putting down the poles, each patrol had to take turns signing the LEAPS form.
After that, YA told the Sec Ones to bring their clothings they were told to bring and go into one of the classrooms. Afterwhile, the Sec Threes were told to do the same. We had to bring clothings that we would wear to either a funeral, beach party or BBQ. We had to "cat walk" from the back of the class to the front, pick up a pen cap and get into a car.
By the time we were done, the quads were almost ready and the knots were tight. We then had to take down the quads and return them to the pole area. Lashings were also kept in the lashing box.
We then had to fall in to a line according to our height and we had to form a squad. Many did not shout their commands as loud as the PLs wanted so we had to redo again and again. We were then given a three minute water break. We also did some fun footdrills afterwards.
At around 1740hrs, Sherwynn fell us in into the horseshoe formation while Charis asked us if we were free for CIP. After the announcements were made, we fell in and were dismissed.

Hello(:

Day 1:
We fell in at 7.55 at the field, and Dove and Hibiscus did flag. The flag broke successfully, and the guides were given 4 minutes to change after that. We proceeded with changing parade, where the guides learnt the importance of having a sense of urgency. The guides were asked to take their bags and belongings to the parade square, where we conducted a bag check. After that, we continued with the highlight of the day! Secondary four Farewell! :D. Everyone went up to the hall, and started full-dress rehearsals with mikes. . Dorothy helped the guides with their rehearsals, giving feedback , while the other PLs, were either doing the sound systems, and preparing for the overall decorations. Soon, at around 11.30, the seniors arrived and the guides stood at attention for GOH. Soon, secondary four farewell officially began, and the emcees, Charis and Ada, entertained the secondary fours. The guides performed their items, followed by the COY Song, I’ll Stand by You, by the Glee Cast, and the COY Video. Soon, the secondary four farewell performance came to a close. The juniors changed into their guides uniforms, and went to the canteen to prepare for the party. The seniors proceeded downstairs as well, and the party began!
Soon, at around 3.00pm, some seniors left, while others stayed behind to continue to participate in our camp activities. The next activity would be Inter-patrol Games. We went to the parade square, where the guides were split into two teams, including the seniors, PLs , as well as Qarissa! We played a few rounds of Captains Ball, and the guides had a lot of fun bonding with their fellow patrol members, and seniors. Later, we played Jacobs ladder. This lasted till around 4.00 where the guides fell in and did footdrills for a short while.
As the guides were getting rather tired and hungry, we proceeded on to outdoor cooking! This time, instead of going out of school to buy ingredients to cook, the PLs decided to do something more different and unique! Guides had to answer questions to bid for the food they wanted. These questions were guides related, and required the Guides to have a deep background knowledge into the history and other aspects of Girl Guiding around the world. This was definitely an enriching experience for the Guides! After all the food had been bid for, the guides continued on to cook the food, while Charmaine, Clara and Ms Soh watched over them to ensure that everything was going on fine!
Meanwhile, the other PLs were busy preparing for the surprise campfire that was going to be carried out later that night!  The guides were given 2 ½ hours to cook, eat and clean up before they were fallen in by Dorothy. Dorothy blind folded them so that they could not see what was happening, and let the guides as well as the seniors to the parade square!
After everyone had settled down, the campfire started with a big bang and the Guides were all pleasantly surprises! Ms Soh lit the fire, and declared the campfire open! Soon enough, Charis and Ada ( Dumb and Dumber ^^ ) began to entertain the guides with cheers, games such as Have you ever?? Broken telephone and Guess the Song title! The guides were also given snacks and drinks to make their campfire experience an enjoyable one! Under the moonlight, the guides bonded and had a lot of fun together. Yet, all good things have to come to an end, it was the end of the campfire. Before declaring the campfire closed, the PLs gave sparklers to the guides to play, where the flame was passed on, singing together, “It only takes a spark” Such an apt song!  Then, as Ms Soh would be leaving the school next year, the PLs presented a small token of our appreciation to Ms Soh, and thanked her for her contributions to Girl Guides and the school thus far! We wish her all the best in her future endeavours! 
After Ms Soh declared the campfire closed, the guides were fallen in, and they proceeded to the canteen. Mrs Tan had bought cake for the guides, and so the guides had some cake while they wrote their log books. After everyone was done with their food, they took their bathing stuff, they fell in yet again, and Dorothy announced that the COY would be given 20 minutes to bathe, the PLC would not be timing them, but they had to ensure that everyone had a chance to bathe. Those who did not bathe after that 20 minutes would not be allowed to. By the end of the 20 minutes, the PLC was very proud to see that the guides had managed to work together selflessly, and everyone managed to bathe. Also, we would like to commend Amanda and Vanessa for their selflessness by not washing their hair so that the other guides would have sufficient time to bathe. 
After they had bathed finished, they were asked to bring their bags and stuff up to the AVA room, where we would be sleeping for the night. After everyone had gathered at the AVA, we sat down for COH. The PLs asked the guides about their feedback on todays camp, and soon Mrs Tan came to join us in the discussion.
The feedback we received was that:
Most favourite activity in the camp; Outdoor cooking, inter patrol games, Campfire, Sec 4 Farewell Party
Least Favourite/ Improvements to be made; Blindfolding, Proper speakers during the Campfire
The PLs do appreciate all your feedback and will definitely take every feedback into consideration!
Soon, it was getting rather late, and so the guides went to bed!  LIGHTS OUT WAS AT 12.30! 

Day 2:
Rise and Shine was at 6.30 and the guides were later fallen in at 7.00am! Today, Kingfisher and Ixora were doing flag! The flag broke successfully and after fall out, the guides proceeded to the canteen to have breakfast which the PSes had brought for their patrols.
After breakfast at around 8.30, the guides proceeded to participate in the SRIT conducted by the PSes themselves! Even some of the PLs took part! It was definitely a good chance for the guides to bond within their patrols and with their PLs , at the same time, passing many testings in a more fun way!
SRIT ended at 11.00 and the guides were asked to help to clean up the areas that had been used by us the day before. Some guides came to help the PLs clean up the firepit as well! Thanks! 
Soon, the camp was coming to an end, Sherwynn fell the guides in , and after several short announcements, and the flag taken down, the guides were fallen out. After collecting their wallets, they were dismissed! 
The PLC hopes that yall have enjoyed yourself in this camp, and bonded with your patrols as well as gotten to know your PLs and seniors better! We hope that you all would continue to keep up the hard work ,and continue to remain dedicated to Girl Guides! :D

HI!

After falling in, Pses reported strength and PLs checked attendance, everyone split into their components. Since backdrop only had 4 people present that day, 2 went to help firepit and the other 2 to structure.
Firstly, everyone in structure helped to take down and untie the catapult and cube built by the PLs for open House. with much strength loosening the knots which were being tightened by the rain overnight. After untying everything, they brought the poles back to the outdoor stage to practice tying bridge, the structure for the Secondary One Orientation Campfire. They managed to tie two quads and open them.
Firepit managed to soak the main wood and feeding wood repeatedly, while meanwhile, item was in a classroom perfecting their skit and dances.
At 12 pm sharp, everyone fell in and after a short report on each components progress, they were fallen out for lunch, and gathered back at 1pm to resume their preparations.
After lunch, structure finished tying their raft and completed the bridge. However, when clara went to check on their structure, she found out that their knots were too loose, and thus they had to retie some knots. As for item, everyone needed was present, so they successfully finished practicing their whole skit and dance. They did very well and Melissa and Ada were very impressed with their performance! 
Firepit continued with what they were doing previously, and soaked wood repeated, taking extra precautions not to mix the feeding wood and the main wood up!
At 4pm, everyone fell in at the outdoor stage for footdrills. After footdrills, the PLs gave the guides sweets while waiting for Mrs Tan to come down for dismissal. When Mrs Tan came, Sherwynn fell everyone in a horse shoe and Mrs Tan asked the understudies to report of their progress. After singing taps and bersurai, Mrs Tan told everybody to gather at a corner and told all of us that we should not leave out valuables lying around , and also to watch ourselves, as there were many construction workers in the school. After that everyone was dismissed!:D

Hello again! (:
We had our first post exam meeting on Wednesday, 27 October from 2.45 – 5.45 pm.
The guides fell in at the outdoor stage area, as the O levels were still ongoing. The PSes reported strength and everyone fell out to head to the canteen to change. Attendance waws then checked and everyone fathered in their components.
For structure, due to the lack of manpower to tie as well as the time constrain, structure girls simply practiced tying quad to perfection.
Item rehearsed their dance and skit which was well done. All the item girls were present and everyone mastered the steps of Caritas and One Family. Backdrop started painting and finished painting the first layer of paint. Firepit too, managed to soak the main wood and feeding wood several times.
At 4.45 pm, the guides fell in at the primary school netball court for foot drills. Foot drills were done very well and the PLs were extremely pleased with everyone’s good performance for that day, especially since everyone had not done footdrills for a long time, due to the exam break. So, we taught the guides a new way of doing footdrills in an interesting manner. :D This foot drill is named “Home foot drill” Basically, everyone does nebtak kaki jepat hentak while singing a song/ cheer ( whatever you call it).
This footdrill was introduced by Dorothy, which she had adapted from NPCC. After learning the home footdrill, we still had 20 more minutes, so we ended up playing Jacob’s ladder. It was a good bonding session!  At 5.40, we fell the guides in in Indian file, as Sherwynn was not present for today’s meeting. After some announcements were made, the guides were fallen out. They collected their wallets and headed home! :D

We had an unofficial meeting on the 13th September, 2.45-4.45pm
Everyone fell in at 2.45 and after the PSes reported strength, the guides were given 2 minutes to change before falling in again to get their attendance and fingernails checked. When Mrs Tan came down for guides, the guides greeted her but she was not pleased with the level of their greeting. she made them greet her again and again until they reach her minimum standard of 7/10. Mrs Tan then asked the PLs to check if everyone had their shirts tucked in and demanded that the guides run 2 rounds for every shirt that was tucked out. Soon after, they were instructed to proceed to the level one class room with foolscap paper and stationary.

The guides went to class 5/2 and were given feedback forms to fill in. After they filled in their feedback forms, they handed it in and Melissa and Sherwynn talked about the progress and performance of their Secondary One Orientation components. Next, the guides were given the tentative dates of the Dec camp and also Sec 4 farewell which is the 23rd - 25th November and 29th November respectively. after that, they were also given time to get into their buddy patrols to discuss their item for Sec 4 Farewell and their respective patrol gifts. At about 4pm, Sherwynn fell them in (square formation!) and only the sec 3s and some sec 2s knew what the hand sign Sherwynn placed stood for! :O Soon after, Sherwynn fell them out and fell them in again to do squad formation. As the sec 3s were having oral, the guides had to fall out and fall in again at the parade square. The guides continued practicing their squad formation.

Next up, the guides did suicide run. After suicide run, they were told to gather and Dorothy briefed them on some points that needed to be noted from the structure competition meeting. At 4.50, Sherwynn fell them in horse shoe formation and some announcements were made and we all sang taps before the guides bersuried. After which, the guides collected wallets and headed home. (:

Hi!

We had an unofficial meeting on the 16th August, Monday, from 2.45-4.45pm.(:

Everyone fell in at 2.45 and after PSes reported strength, the guides were given 2 minutes to change before falling in again to get their attendance and fingernails checked. Soon after, they were instructed to proceed to the level one classroom with completed testings, handbook, foolscap & pen.

Basically, we are trying to rush everyone to try to complete their Bronze/Silver/Gold Badge ASAP! Every single badge counts for our PNA points! Lets JIAYOU together for a GOLD PNA, shall we?!(: The guides were busy studying for their testings while PLs were busy marking their testings :D

At 4pm, we headed to the outdoor stage to practice footdrils. The PLs main purpose for doing footdrills every meeting is to brush up the guides' footdrills, and to instill discipline. We practiced forming squad, followed by our usual commands. however, our Muslim guides were currently exempted from footdrills and physical activities as they were fasting and we did not want anybody to faint while doing any physical activities (: After footdrills, we did suicide running again.

After suicide running, it was nearly 4.45, so Sherwynn fell everyone in. they were given 3 minutes to change into their pinafores. After that, some announcements were made and we sang taps before the guides bersuraied. Then , they collected wallets and headed home.

HELLO !

Wednesday’s meeting, on the 11th August, was from 2.45 pm to 5.45 pm. Due to the rain, the guides fell in at the sheltered area outside the chapel. After checking attendance and reporting strength, the guides were briefed on the agenda for the day. That day, the PLs, Sec 3s and two Sec 1s from the Starplus Programme were to supposed to be in the kitchen to cook --- to pass our Cook Profiency Badge !

The rest of the guides were to practice their footdrills under the command of the PSes who would be taking over for about ¾ of the meeting. The PSes had to train their patrol members and work on improving the tidiness of their footdrills, especially the Sec Ones who were unsure of their footdrills most of the time. After the Cook Badge Test, the PLs would check on the Coy’s footdrills to ensure that their PSes had done a good job.

All the rest of us gathered at the kitchen and we were briefed by Ms Soh and the Home Econs teacher on the safety precautions and proper usage of the equipment. Then, we were given about 1 hour and 45 minutes till about 4.45 pm to prepare our balanced meal. All of us were excited to begin.

Some of the main courses prepared were macaroni with pototao and egg salad, spaghetti, fried rice, shepherd’s pie, chicken kebab rice. YUMMY!:D The desserts we prepared were muffins, jelly, strawberry yogurt and different fruits. All of us had a whale of time cooking with our friends. At 4.45 pm, we started clearing up, washing the utensils, pots, pans and bowls that we used to cook. By 5.15 pm, Ms Soh invited the Home Econs teacher, Mrs Michelle Yeo (I think) to taste our dishes. Mrs Yeo was really an expert in cooking. One look at the dish, she could tell that the sauce was too dry, onions were not fully cooked, etc. But Ms Soh told her to be lenient with us. Heehee. SO EVERYONE PRESENT PASSED THE TEST (cooking portion only) ‼ HAHAHAHA! Yayy! :D

We spent the entire two hours cooking our dishes and took only 5 minutes to finish up the delicious, mouthwatering food that we prepared. How sad ):

At 5.25 pm, all of us vacated the kitchen and headed towards the Parade Square to check on the rest of the guides’ footdrills. There was a slight improvement as everyone could say check together on time for commands such as kekiri, kekanan, pusing. However, they failed to do so for keblakan (praise HanYi) We were also displeased and disappointed with their attire. Many girls were booked for wearing the wrong coloured bra as well as low socks.

At 5.40 pm, everyone gathered outside Computer Lab 4 for punishment. They had to run up two flights of stairs and down in 45 seconds for their poor behaviour and attitude. If they failed to complete in 45 seconds, they had to redo. As they managed to run to and fro in 1 min and 15 sec, they had to redo. On the second try, they managed to complete the punishment in 1m and 5 sec – an improvement! (:

At 5.45 pm, we fell out, sang taps, bersurai-ed, collected our wallets and went home. After guides, the PLs discussed on the winning patrol for the Best Patrol Award based on the quality of logbooks and number of guides who were booked.

Conclusion --- Best Patrol Award goes to SPARROW PATROL for they had the best logbook done and none of the members were booked by Dorothy. Second best is MORNING GLORY! :D Congratulations, and well done Sparrow and Morning Glory!

Heyy there!

The meeting on 2nd August, Monday was cancelled by Ms Soh due to last minute’s arrangement for the PLs to participate in GOH for the YOG Torch Relay (:

We had a meeting on 4th August, Wednesday. That day, the assembly ended late due to the dance performance. So, instead of the usual 2.45 pm, guides started at 3 pm to allow everybody to take their lunch. At 3pm, everyone was fell in by Nicole. After the PSes reported strength, changing out of their pinafores and checking of attendance completed, all of us proceeded to 1/8 classroom. Those guides who did not have their lunch due to valid reasons such as recycling collection were allowed 15 minutes to grab a bite at the canteen.

Once in the classroom, everyone sat in their individual patrols and had a twenty-minute discussion on their photographs for the Guides Photography Competition. Every patrol had to take 1 photograph that depicts YOG and Guides, which was the theme of the competition. The photograph has to portray the Youth Olympic Values of Friendship, Respect and Excellence. So, every patrol was supposed to finalise the details and had their photos taken during guides that day. However, many patrols did not have a camera. So, we decided to give them the time to sit down in their patrols to discuss instead.

At 3.40 pm, the guides headed to the outdoor stage for Sec 1 Orientation preparation with Dorothy, Clara and Sherwynn. The rest of us stayed in 1/8 classroom to check our respective logbooks. There was no paint and materials to start the backdrops and there was also not enough time to soak wood for the firepit, so everyone helped structure that day to practice with their knots. At about 4 pm, we had a surprise visitor! KAI YING, one of the PLs when I was in Sec 1. She was the PL of Flowerpecker Patrol, in PLC ‘07/08. She came to visit us, accompanied by our seniors Kai Li and Pamela!:D

At 4.40 pm, the guides packed up the poles and lashing and started with footdrills. Kai Ying inspected their footdrills with the usual commands: kekanan pusing, kekiri pusing, cepat jalan, hentak kaki, etc. We showed her our knowledge of the formation of a squad. She also made the guides do some fun footdrills.

While in the classroom checking the logbooks, the PLs found three hilarious mistakes. One patrol wrote that we had “WATER PARTY”! (It was supposed to be water parade!) Another wrote that they had to put their water bottles on their head after water parade when they were supposed to overturn their water bottles. That was to ensure that they had completely finished all their water. Hahaha! The funniest mistake made was one of the scripts had it that we had SEASIDE running as punishment. What a joke! It was supposed to be SUICIDE running! On top of that, there were plenty of grammatical errors in the logbook entries :( (TSK TSK!)

After doing the footdrills for quite a while, we gave the guides 4 minutes to run to the canteen to grab their bottles and then assembled at the outdoor stage for the ‘water party’. Everyone was told to ‘place their bottles on their head’ after finishing their drink. When we told them their silly mistakes and the rationale for making them ‘place their bottles on their head’, everyone burst into laughter. We told them they would continue doing exactly what they wrote in their logbooks in future, such as those silly mistakes they made. Melissa added on, “Guides, we did not bring you to the beach, neither is there any palm trees or coconut trees in the school!” With that, everyone laughed even more heartily.

At 5.30 pm, Kai Ying, Kai Li and Pamela took their leave and bade everyone farewell. Thereafter, we started with our Suicide Running as a form of punishment, this time for not greeting PLs and when teachers walk past. Ixora and Kingfisher tied for the first. At 5.40 pm, we changed and fell out. Next, we had our debrief.During our debrief, we told the guides about the new Best Patrol Scheme.The implementation of the Best Patrol Scheme is to encourage bonding and teamwork amongst the patrol members. The best patrol will be decided by PLs by the end of each meeting. The criteria will be based on the winning team of the Suicide Running Competition between buddy patrols, msubmission of proposals (in terms of punctuality and quality) and the quality of their logbooks. The winner for the best patrol award for this meeting went to Kingfisher. The reason why Ixora failed to win was because their scribe had complained about how tiring guides was. They complaint that the PLs were being very unfair as some people were allowed to rest while others had to continue to do footdrills even though they were tired too. It was all a misunderstanding – A few people were allowed to rest because they were sick and unable to march. We concluded our debrief by 5.55 pm and everyone was dismissed.

SO SORRY FOR THE LATE DISMISSAL! The PLS have since decided to dedicate 10 minutes before the end of meeting for debrief session before we fall out. This is to ensure that everyone can be dismissed promptly and punctually by the stipulated time for each meeting. We do apologise for any inconvenience caused earlier!

Hello!

On the 28th July, Wednesday, we had an unofficial meeting from 2.45-5.45 pm. Dorothy fell the Guides in after reporting strength, checking of attending and changing out of pinafore. Everyone was told to proceed to the classroom on the first level.

That day, we did campfire preparation. After settling down in the classroom, the PLs allocated the guides into their components. Backdrop, Firepit, Structure and Item. Here’s the list of people in their respective components.

Each components had to discuss and brainstorm for new ideas for their components, and how to improve from the previous years and also materials needed to be bought.

Item had to create a new script again this year as the PLs did not want the same story to be repeated every year. Structure brought out their black white poles and practiced tying quads and stabilizers. Backdrop had nothing much to do and after writing down their ideas, they brought out the banner used for Sec One Orientation last year to decipher and record the colour of paints needed to buy to give the backdrop a new coat of paint. Backdrop finished rather early and proceeded to give the Structure girls a helping hand.

At 4.40 pm, all the components packed up and headed towards the outdoor stage for footdrills. We did our usual footdrill practice and formation of squad. At 5.20 pm, we stopped footdrills.

Next, the guides were given punishment. This was because they did not have their sense of urgency and failed to greet the PLs and teachers until they were prompted to do so. They were chided for poor quality of logbooks. On top of that, Clara was also upset that the structure girls took very long to tie their knots. They took about 10 minutes to tie a simple square lash. Furthermore, many patrols handed in late proposals with very slipshod work. The new punishment we implemented that day was known as suicide running.

The guides had to stand in line according to buddy patrols on one side of the quadrangle. Upon given the ‘go’ signal, they had to run half the quadrangle back to their group and then back to the other end of the quadrangle and then subsequently back to their group again. Everyone stood by to cheer on their teammates. Sherwynn and Clara too, joined the punishment to fill up the spaces as some patrol had fewer numbers of guides. The first winning team would get to rest while the others would compete again.

The winner was KINGFISHER AND IXORA, followed by SPARROW AND ORCHID. :D

After punishment, Sherwynn fell everyone in a horseshoe formation. The PLs made some announcements before we sang taps and bersuraied. After which, the guides collected their wallets and proceeded home!

Hey there!
We had an unofficial meeting on the 21st July, Wednesday, from 2.45 to 5.45 pm !

The guides fell in at 2.45. after reporting strength and getting attendance checked, they fell out and headed to the classroom to complete testings. This time round, the PLs, especially Dorothy, have to work together extra hard and try to get as many guides to attain their bronze / silver / gold badge as soon as possible as we are aiming to achieve a PNA Gold Award by the next Thinking Day !

That day, the Sec Twos had their NAPPFA and many of them did not turn up for the first half of the meeting. While everyone was busy studying and completing their testings, the PLs were busy sorting out one huge stack of completed testing passed on from Natalie :D. At 4.45 pm, everyone was instructed to sit in their patrols. We were then briefed by Caitlin about the Cook Proficiency Badge we were planning to complete. We were given about 30 minutes to discuss on what we wanted to cook.

Practical
1. Bring a letter from her mother or Domestic Science teacher to say that she has prepared, cooked and served a complete dinner, and cleared away afterwards.
2. Cook at the test, a balanced meal using at least two of the following methods:
2.1 Boiling;
2.2 Baking;
2.3 Steaming;
2.4 Stewing;
2.5 Frying or grilling.
Note: Cook a dessert or cake, if not already included in the meal.
3. Make a cup of tea, coffee or cocoa
4. Wash up competently utensils, boards etc. used at the test.
5. Lay a table.
Oral
Answer questions on food and the dishes just prepared. Have knowledge of the prices and food values of the ingredients used. Understand why special care is necessary when cooking vegetables and how their value may most easily be conserved.

At about 4.45 pm, we proceeded to the outdoor stage. The reason for the punishment that day was the lack of sense of urgency and also many PSes did not relate the message to their patrol members to bring the guides handbook and to study for the testings beforehand. The punishment was to run 2 rounds around the level one classrooms.
After running, we proceeded with footdrills and practiced the formation of squad alongside with the usual commands. However, the PLs notices that many guides, especially sec ones and twos were unsure of their ‘keblakan poseng’ so we practiced that command repeatedly till they got it right :D
At 5.40, Sherwynn fell the guides in a horseshoe formation. Announcements were made to remind the PSes to hand in their Cook Badge Proposals on the next meetin. Following that, we sang taps and everyone was dismissed.

Hey!
Monday's unofficial meeting, 19 July 2010 was held from 2.45-5.45.

The Guides were fell in by Caitlin at 2.45. After they changed and attendance was checked, everyone proceeded to a classroom for SECONDARY FOUR FAREWELL PREPARATION! :D

They sat in their buddy patrol to discuss for a Sec Four Farewell theme. PLs decided that this year’s Sec Four Farewell would be done in buddy patrols. This enables them to bond more together as well as to work well as a whole. Each buddy patrol would be required to present a performance which could be made up of a dance/song/skit of approximately 10 minutes.

After 15-20 minutes of discussion time, each buddy patrol presented their ideas. There were many ideas such as Senior Year, Kopitiam, World Cup, Circus, Footsteps In My Heart and many more. But after much discussion, we came to a conclusion. The theme would be GLEE.

Thereafter, the guides were given some time to brainstorm idea on their item. However, soon, one of the patrols proposed the idea of using TV shows instead as many people did not really know what Glee was. In the end, we all decided to make our theme more general: TV SHOWS! It could be of any genre like cartoons or comedy. All buddy patrols would be required to produce a proposal with their performance details to be approved by the PLs.

At 4.00, Sherwynn fell the guides in at the outdoor stage to practice the formation of squad again, as well as footdrills. This time, their formation of a squad showed much more improvement. Meanwhile, most of the Sec Ones had just finished their NAPFFA and were heading back to class. A few Sec Ones, (of whom I must applaud) came for Guides immediately. However, there were many Sec Ones who did not bother. So, the PLs had had a hard time going to each of their class to find out their reason for not coming. When questioned, many merely gave the excuse that they were tired. We told them it was not a valid reason and they had to come for Guides.

The rest of the Sec Ones soon joined the rest to do footdrills. While they were doing their footdrills, the PLs were watching them closely and soon, we realised that many of the Sec Ones were unsure of their commands. We pulled the Sec Ones out and taught them footdrills separately.

At 4.40, Sherwynn fell everyone in a horseshoe formation. The guides were given 3 minutes to change into their pinafores. The PLs made some announcements, and the guides bersurai-ed, collected wallets and went home!

Hello! I am Charmaine, your new historian for the year of ‘10/11! :D

Wednesday, 14 July 2010, was our first meeting held by the PLC ‘10/11. Before guides started, while in the den, the PLs chatted with Ruth, our YA, and found out that it was her last day with us ):

At 2.45pm, the guides were fell in by Sherwynn at the parade square in their old patrols, but with the new PSes standing in front. After reporting the patrol strength, they were given two minutes to change out of their pinafore. They fell back in and were told of the agenda by Melissa. Next, they were told to get their foolscap and pen and proceed to an empty classroom on the first level. The new PLs and PSes then gave an introduction of themselves with the PLs elaborating on their newly given jobs. Here’s our new PLC and PSC ‘10/11:

On behalf of the Guides Committee’ 10/11, I would like to say a special thanks to the PLC ’09/10 and our seniors for grooming us into what we are today.

We proceeded to tell the guides our new rules and expectations.
Rules:
1. Attire:
- Unofficial Meetings
• SCHOOL RULES APPLIES.
• Nails must be short and neat.
• School name needs to be seen on socks and not hidden.
• PE T-shirt is to be tucked in at all times
• No HOUSE T-shirts allowed. ONLY white school based T-shirt. (Examples; Class T-shirt, PE T-shirt, Fiesta T-shirt etc.)
• ONLY PE shorts are allowed. NO FBTS.

- Official Meetings
• ONLY Black coloured hair accessories
• Short nails as usual
• WHITE (plain) socks.
• Hair should not be touching the crest on your scarf. If it is, MUST tie plaits, NO buns!
• WHITE (plain) shoes- No logos.
• Uniform: NEAT. Belt buckle should beseen.
• Hang uniform/ PE attires neatly on a hanger.
• NOTE: PE attires HAVE to be brought on official meetings, even though fall in is in Guides Uniform.

2. Punctuality
• Sense of Urgency. No walking from place to place.
• HANDING UP OF TESTINGS: Have to be handed in by the date stated by PL. If not, punishments apply.
• Changing Parade: DO NOT Take your own time to change. ( One person’s delay may lead to the entire coy having to change again)

3. Responsibility
• Attendance- Turn up for 75% of the meetings. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR OUR PNA.
• Payment of COY fund punctually when needed.
• Handing up of testings
• PERSONAL BELONGINGS: Submit them to the treasurer.
• PERSONAL HEALTH: If you are not feeling well, approach the PLs.

After going through the expectations, Qarissa, our new YA, was given a chance to introduce herself. Soon after, Ruth had to leave and we bade her farewell. She told us that she would come back and visit us someday(: the PLS then told the guides of their new patrols!

We proceeded to have patrol corners. It was a good 10-15 minutes getting to know each other and discussing about the roles for a new patrol list.

At about 4.15, the guides fell in at the outdoor stage to practice the formation of a squad, with Sherwynn commanding. Since most of the guides had long forgotten how to form a squad, the PLs showed them roughly how the procedure was like. As all the Sec ones were totally new to the formation of a squad, they were told to step aside and watch as the seniors practiced. After two rounds, the sec ones joined in to try out. It was not very good as many were unable to project their voice, so their ‘satu’ & ‘dua’ could not be clearly heard. As a result, they had to repeat the shouting of the commands countless times. At last, they managed to do it properly and we continued with the rest of the commands. Well done guides! (:

After the formation of a squad, the guides had to do their ‘hentak kaki jepat hentak’ for about five minutes. Sherwynn then fell them out and they were told to grab their bottles from the canteen. And obviously, we had water parade to hydrate them after marching in the hot weather. Following that, we practiced some more footdrills. Eventually, the PSes, plus Brenda, Chomel and Si Ying were told to fall out. Together with the rest of the PLs, all of us were to be the participants involved in marching for National Day. Chomel was our reserve; Charis, Ada and Clara would be the flag bearers. For National Day, Red cross would be commanding and Dorothy would be the timer.

All of us headed to the back of the Parade Square to practice the procedure and our ‘left check over’! the remaining guides joined us in no time and practice their footdrills again, while Clara, Ada and Charis commanded. Some of the mistakes pointed out by Qarissa were that the guides were marching way too fast and they were not coordinated. So, they were made to march repeatedly till near perfection.

After we were done practicing Marching for NDP, we fell out, and the PSes, plus Chomel, Brenda and Si Ying fell back in to join the rest. Then, some of the PLs were told to fall in front of the Guides to practice ‘jepat jalan’. This was to help pace the guides to ensure that they did not march too fast. The first few rows of guides, which consisted mainly of sec twos and threes, were marching with big steps taken, while the sec ones behind were struggling to catch up. After a few rounds marching back and forth, the guide managed to get a hang of the pace and the PLs fell out.

At 5.35pm, the guides were finally allowed to fall out and were told to give comments about the day’s meeting, while Melissa and I went to collect our wallets from Ms Lakshmi. The guides commented that they were very tired marching. THE PLs ARE REALLY SORRY FOR MAKING YOU GUYS MARCH SO LONG! Sorry! ): But it is nonetheless essential to bring the standard of footdrills up! :) At 5.45, the PLs made some announcements and everyone fell out after singing taps.

Hello!
We had an unofficial meeting on 12 April from . Fall in was at . PSes reported strength and we were given 2 minutes to change out of our pinafores and return to the fall-in area. After that, we had inspection and the agenda of the day was read out. We were then told to find an empty classroom to do testings while the Secondary 1s were to get their writing materials for the last few tenderfoot testings as well.

The juniors found an empty classroom and settled in while the seniors busied themselves with written testings. After the seniors had at least finished 1 testing, they were to start with campfire preparations. Item continued making the props which were namely a 'postbox', 'lightbulb' and 'aeroplane'. We had previously stayed back on one occasion to make the neccesary props so on this meeting, we had already a headstart. After we were done with the props and they had more or less dried, we went to the parade square to practice our lines with the PLs and continued to do this until the meeting was about to come to an end.

Meanwhile, other components such as backdrop and overall deco. continued designing the backdrop and making the souvenirs respectively. The souvenirs were pink hearts made from synthetic cloth and were stuffed with cotton and then sewed at the edges to seal it up. After which, on the surface of the heart, the words 'PS. I LOVE YOU' would be sewed onto them.

Some of the Secondary 4s who had no testings to do did the sealing up of the hearts with Cheryl and Joycelyn. Soon, came and Kai Li got Ada and I to call the Secondary 1s and 4s out to fall in. Everyone put down their stuff and ran to the parade square. There, we all fell in and listened to announcements. Following that, we sang taps and Kai Li got us to bersurai. Before collecting our valuables, we thanked the PLs and seniors made their way to the canteen to pack up while some Secondary 1s were told to stay on longer to finish some testings. Natalie was trying very hard to pass them as quickly as possible.

If you are confused about the events of this meeting, so am I as I cannot exactly remember the details so please bear with me. Thanks! :)

Hi!
We had unofficial meeting on 7 April from 2.45pm to 5.45pm. The agenda of this meeting would be the same for the past few meetings. The main goal was to help the Secondary 1s pass their tenderfoot testings as soon as possible as time was rather tight and the seniors were going to be doing their testings as well.

Natalie had given the majority of us specific testings to learn beforehand, so as to minimise wasted time used for studying. We fell in at 2.45pm and PSes reported strength. Thereafter, we were given 2 minutes to change out of our pinafore and report back to the fall-in area.

After 2 minutes were up, we fell back in again and upon doing so, were told to get our writing materials and look for an empty classroom. This sent all of us scrambling and after grabbing our items, we ran to find an empty classroom and waited for the PLs to arrive, meanwhile chatting amongst ourselves.

We spent the remaining time doing our testings while the Secondary 1s were also doing their testings. The atmosphere thus became rather quiet as everyone was busy either trying to study their modules or completing the testing. There was only the occasional chatter between partners who were both done and had nothing else to do.

Before we knew it, time was nearly up and the PLs told us to clear up and prepare to fall in. We did so, and made our way downstairs to where ever made a possible fall in place. The 'FALL IN' command soon came and everyone ran towards the command to fall in. When everyone had fallen in, announcements were made and as usual, Kai Li told us to sing taps. After that, we fell out, thanked the PLs and made our way home.

We had an unofficial meeting on 31 March, from 2.45pm to 5.45pm. Fall in was at 2.45pm and as per routine, we were given 2 minutes to change out of our pinafores and assemble back at the fall in area. Inspection was then carried out and briefing on that day's agenda was given too. Once again, the Secondary 1s were going to be focusing on completing their tenderfoot testings.

I admit that as I have not posted on the blog for the longest time, I cannot quite recall what happened in detail so I just lay it out roughly.

On this day's meeting, while our juniors raced against time to complete their tenderfoot testings, us seniors were busy continuing with preparations for the upcoming June campfire. I guessed that the PLs had planned out the schedule such that an equal amount of time was given to accomplish the different duties, namely 'Campfire Preparation' and 'Completion of Testings for Seniors'. Everyone split into their various components and began working on their various duties.

Item began working on the skit by memorising our lines and such. Other components, such as structure, tried tying their bridge and Backdrop got started on their backdrop without wasting too much time too. Time passed extremely quickly and soon, 5.40pm came so we fell in, listened to announcements and sang taps. After which we fell out and thanked the PLs and collected out valuables and made our way home.

Yes, this is extremely brief and I apologise for that. Thank you for understanding.

Hi!
I'm so sorry that I've not been posting for a long time. Well, I'm back! :)

Anyway, we had an unofficial meeting on 29 March from 2.45pm to 4.45pm. On this day, the PLs were going to focus on helping the dear Secondary 1s to quickly complete their tenderfoot testings, so as to be able to enrol by the expected date.

We fell in at 2.45pm and as usual, PSes reported strength and we were then given 2 minutes to change out of our pinafores and return to the fall in area. There, inspection was carried out and the Agenda of the Day was read out too. After that, we were told to find an empty classroom and wait there for the PLs. Secondary 1s and seniors were to be separated. Upon falling out, everyone grabbed their writing materials and handbook and ran to find an empty classroom.

Soon, we started with our testings while Natalie and other PLs went to test the Secondary 1s who had yet to pass their colour party or other testings. Meanwhile, us seniors were to also do testings. Thus, we spent most of our time either studying our tesings or taking the testings. Everything went smoother that day as Natalie had already sent out a mass text to all PSes to tell their patrol members what testings they were suppose to study for. Hence, lesser time was wasted for everyone to learn their testings. Good job and thank you Natalie! :D

All this while, we did testings and the classroom was fairly quiet except occasionally when some of us got too noisy chatting and the noise level increased but only to soften again when any of the PLs told us to lower our volume. Other than that, we were rather well behaved. :D Time flew by quickly and before we knew it, it was fast approaching 4.30pm! Looks like we had gotten so engrossed in our studying that we had not noticed the time, which is quite a good sign. :)

Everyone then slowly started to finish off with whatever they had been doing and by then, 4.45pm had arrived and we all fell in. Announcements were made and Natalie commented on the progress of the Secondary 1s regarding their tenderfoot testings. She told them to study harder and encouraged all PSes to help their juniors if any of them had not passed their colour party. After that, we sang taps and the company bersurai-ed. Following that, we fell out and thank the PLs for the day and made our way home.

Hey Hey Hey!
We had an unofficial meeting on 24 March from 2.45pm to 5.45pm. PSes were going to take over the 1st half of the meeting as the Secondary 4s would be having their NAPFA at that time.

Each PS fell her patrol in by height, all facing the Home Econs Kitchen and then had inspection. After that, Sherwynn read out the agenda of the day. Next, we 'kekanan poseng'-ed them to become the normal fall in pattern (indian file). Following that, we gave them 2 minutes to change out of their pinafores and assemble back at the fall in venue. There, we fell them in again and we told them to get their Guides Shirt Designs while the rest were to look for an empty classroom.

While everyone ran to find a classroom, Charmaine went to get her songsheet for campfire songs and cheers. In the meantime, Mrs Tan was having a short talk with the PSes, introducing a new member to Guides: Shermaine! :D She was later put in Dove patrol. :D Meanwhile, I was in the classroom keeping an eye on the coy while waiting for the songsheet to arrive. Ada soon came and I told her to take over while I went to look for Charmaine. When I reached the parade square, I saw Shermaine with Mrs Tan and the PSes. I then brought her to the canteen while exchanging our names with each other. I waited for her to change out of her pinafore and then we ran back to the classroom together. By then, all PSes were present so we introduced Shermaine to the coy and soon, we got started on practicing songs and cheers.

We began with the classic 'Adiji Yell' followed by many other well-known songs and cheers, going down the list. Qarissa was also present to supervise us and we had tons of fun engaging with the coy and singing with them. My favourite is 'Boom Chika Boom'. It's so full of life and fun! Yay! Haha. :D In between practices, Mrs Tan would occasionally pop her head through the window. I think she had been outside the classroom all along but she did not want to come in. So she just popped in to have a feel of the atmosphere. Haha. :D

Soon, 4pm came and the PLs made their appearance at the classroom by shouting in unison, "GUIDES! HOW DO YOU FEEL?!" And we answered in unison, ever so loudly, "WE FEEL GOOD *CLAP* OH WE FEEL SO GOOD *CLAP* OH WE FEEL SO, OH WE FEEL SO, OH WE FEEL SO GOOD! HA-HA-HA!". It ended with everyone roaring with laughter. That was when the PLs took over our job and we retreated back to the ground. Then, they decided to test each patrol on a random cheer/song. All patrols did rather well but for those who were quite soft, the coy boosted their voices by singing along too! Coy spirit! Yay! :D

Then, when they were done testing us, Kai Li spoke to us about the upcoming campfire that we would be hosting. She said that Ms Soh had actually wanted to call off the campfire as she felt that preparations were taking up too much of our precious time which could be used for completion of testings to help us earn our badges etc. Thus, Kai Li said that if we wanted to carry on with our campfire, which everyone agreed with, we would have to spend the rest of that day's meeting doing testings. Each person was to complete at least 1 testing.

Everyone soon got to work, studying as hard as they could to do their part in making the campfire a success and for those who did not have handbooks with them, we shared. When some of us had finished studying a particular testing, we would go up to Natalie to request from her to give us the question paper and we would do our testing. Very soon, 5.30pm came so the PLs told us to finish off whatever we were doing and prepare for fall in. Those who were still doing their testings, they hurriedly finished it and those who were not doing testings, they kept their stuff and waited patiently with the occasional lookout to see if any of the PLs had fallen in.

A few minutes later, everyone heard a 'FALL IN!' sounding from somewhere and we all rushed to the fall in area. There, announcements were said and taps was sung. The coy bersurai-ed and before collecting our wallets, we thanked Qarissa and the PLs present.

Ello!
We had an unofficial meeting on 10 March from 2.45pm to 5.45pm. We were going to do SRIT on that day! :D

Fall in was at 2.45pm and PSes reported strength before everyone was given 2 minutes to change out of their pinafores and grab their bandanas or scarves and return. When we did, we fell in again and had inspection followed by a briefing. Then, Kai Li got us to go into patrol corners and PSes were to tell the juniors what SRIT was all about. Soon, a representative was sent from each patrol and they were given their 1st clue to their 1st station. Off we go! :D

Dove's 1st station was 'Musical Marching' and Natalie was the IC of the station. Upon reaching the Outdoor stage, we greeted Natalie and she briefed us on the rules and instructions of the game. Thereafter, she held out her fists and asked me to pick 1 of them. I pointed at her right and this meant we had to do 'Hentak kaki jepat hentak'. Next, she fell us in and arranged us in 2 columns before starting the game. Natalie then gave the command and we started to march while she blasted music from her phone. When the music stopped, we had to take note of which foot it stopped at so that we would know how many more marches to do before finally stopping, ie: If it stopped on the left, we had to march 3 times or if it stopped on the right, we had to march twice. We had quite a bit of fun and soon, the game ended and Natalie then fell us out. We said a cheer and thanked Natalie before we were given our next clue.

That was the 1st station. The next station was mended by Amanda and it was a WET game! Yay! Haha. This station involved four members taking a plastic bag each and filling it with water and putting 3 marbles in each of the four bags. Then, we would tie the bags at different points on the string that was tied to the two pillars at the back of the parade square. After that, we would sit below each bag and ensure it was in between our legs. Next, we had to close our eyes and call out whoever's name whom we thought her bag contained a marble. When this was done, Amanda would burst the bag and water would splash all over our legs. After a few moments, Amanda stopped the game and revealed to us that we had found all 3 marbles. On each marble was a numbered label and this number would determine which campfire song or cheer we had to sing.

The 3rd station was Pamela's station and there, we were going to teach our Secondary 1s how to fold and tie the guides scarf! :D Firstly, she gave us a few minutes to teach the juniors and then made us tie on each other. Next, she checked the scarves and later told us to get into pairs to walk along the bridge while 1 person from each pair tried to tie a scarf on her partner. Following that, we were to tie a scarf around our partner while JUMPING! Haha. It was quite fun but difficult at the same time too.

Joycelyn was in charge of the 4th station and it was a SCAVENGER HUNT! :D She gave us a list of things to find and only gave us a limited time to find all those things. These included: a teacher's signature (forge and you die), satay stick, To kill a mocking bird poster (which was never found), a bowl of sand, paintbrush from the Artbox, blu-tack and others. For each minute we were late, points would be deducted. At the end of it, she would check all the items against her list and then when we were done, she gave us our next clue.

The 5th station was at the steps nearest to the HDB gate and Kai Li was the IC of that station. There, we were to teach the Secondary 1s how to tie a squarelash knot and then, together with the whole patrol, we were to try to tie the longest ladder ever using gadget poles and provided twine! :) It was quite fun but while tying the knots, the poles would move as someone else would be tying at that pole too so it got rather tricky.

Finally, the last station was another WET game, mended by Cheryl. There, we had to take off our shoes and socks and choose a representative from our group to hold a piece of paper. The rest of the patrol members then had to protect this piece of paper from getting wet by sheltering her while Cheryl would then take her Blaster to spray water at the whole group. When the pail was emptied, someone would have to fill it up at the tap at the track and come back to the gallery steps. After doing so, 1 member would be removed from the group and the game would continue. Dove was given full points for this station as we had managed to keep our 'paper-holder' and paper rather dry until it finally tore and a whole pail of water was doused at the paper-holder (me). Haha! :D

At the end of the whole SRIT, we were given time to change into our dry clothes and wait at the fall in area. While waiting, we played 'bomb' and talked among our peers and shared our experiences at the different stations. Soon, 5.45pm came so we fell in at the parade square and listened to announucements before falling out and thanking Qarissa and the PLs. After that was home sweet home!

Wassup!
We had an unofficial meeting on 8 March from 2.45pm to 4.45pm. For that meeting, the Secondary 1s would be taking a break from colour party. Instead, they would be starting on some written testings (tenderfoot).

We fell in at 2.45pm and PSes reported strength. Thereafter, we were given 2 minutes to change out of our pinafores and when we fell back in again, the PLs told the seniors to separate into their campfire components and start work from there at their respective venues. In the mean time, the Secondary 1s were to follow the Item girls to an empty classroom to have their testings conducted.

There, at the classroom, the Item girls penned down all costumes, songs and props required for the skit. When we were done, we went to the canteen to get cardboard boxes from the drinks stall uncle and put them in the Den with Amanda's permission. While all this was going on, Backdroppers were in the canteen making hearts out of pink styrofoam paper and planning for the design of the backdrop which I later saw (it's beautiful! :D)

Soon, at 4 plus, when the Secondary 1s were done with their testings, Qarissa brought all of them out to the empty space outside Com Lab 4 and did footdrills with them. She did this until it was approaching 4.45pm that she stopped and the PLs then fell everyone in. We listened to announcements and later fell out and thanked Qarissa and the PLs before heading home.

Hello!
We had an unofficial meeting on 3 March from 2.45pm to 5.45pm. On this day, the Secondary 1s were going to continue their colour party testings. However, not all had to do as some had already passed, on their 1st try! Awesome! Yay! Haha.

We fell in at 2.45pm and PSes reported strength. Thereafter, we were to change out of our pinafores in 2 minutes. When we fell back in, we had inspection and the PLs then told us that a new way of falling in had been introduced and we were to follow it. This meant we had to forget all that we learnt about falling in. The changes made are as follows:
1. The PL will not fall in by turning to her right and then to her left before lifting up the 'fall in' sign
2. Instead, she will immediately 'senang diri' and then 'sedaiya' before lifting up the 'fall in' sign.
3. Then, the whole coy will follow suit - immediately 'senang diri' and only return to 'sedaiya' when the PL gives the command.
4. From there, we do everything else as per normal.
NOTE: This new method of falling in is to be used for all types of fall in.

After learning the new fall in method, Kai Li tried it with us a few times and when we got it right, we moved onto the next activity: continue campfire preparation! :D By the way, there was a new junior who joined us on that day: Sruthi. She was placed in DOVE! Whoo! Haha. :D As my patrol had a new junior, I spent the whole meeting teaching her fall in, fall out and the 3 basic commands for footdrill: 'kekiri', 'kenan' and 'keblakan poseng'. It was quite tough at 1st as she was new to guides so she was not used to the commands and the practices of guides. However, with much patience and many hours, I managed to help her familiarise herself with guides.

At about 4 plus, when Firepit had finished what they were supposed to do, Kai Li sent Anabelle and Dion to help me in teaching Sruthi as I was rather tired already. (Thanks! :D) While all this was happening, Item was busy writing the script for our skit. I could not help them at all as I had to attend to Sruthi the whole time. Sorry! :(

Anyway, all this went on until it was almost 5.45pm that we fell in to get ready to be dismissed. We listened to announcements, sang taps, besurai-ed and thanked the PLs and others who were higher in rank that were present.

Hey!
We had an unofficial meeting on 24th February from 2.45pm to 5.45pm. I know that this post is late but I've been rather busy as my CAs were during this whole long period of time. Sorry. :(

Anyhow, we fell in at 2.45pm and PSes reported strength. Thereafter, we were given 2 minutes to change out of our pinafores and head back to the 'fall-in' venue. Then, the PLs told the Secondary 1s to stay behind while the seniors go look for an empty classroom on the 1st level. The Secondary 1s were going to have their 1st colour party testing! :O But it is good in a way as it means they have taken the 1st step to getting enrolled! (That is, if they pass). :D

Meanwhile, the seniors were in the classroom discussing the upcoming campfire that we would be hosting. :D The theme is 'P.S. I love you'. When we were quietened down, we were shown our components (I'm in ITEM! <3) Haha. Understudies of the various components were no longer PSes but some of the Secondary 2s and 4s. :) After that, we split into our components and started discussing more on the plan. For Item, the PLs had already done a rough storyline for the skit. We were to elaborate on the storyline, lengthening it as it was rather short. Oh. Qarissa was also present! Yay.

Soon, in the midst of our heated discussions, the PLs told us to get into our patrol corners. following that, the Secondary 1s came to the class and joined their patrols. Suddenly, Kai Li, Joycelyn, Amanda, Pamela, Nia and Natalie came into class with a HUGE tray of a THICK slab of jelly out of nowhere. Upon approaching the entrance of the classroom, they started singing 'Happy Birthday' for Cheryl. Aww .. :D After that, we broke into applause and were treated to the jelly as well. Cheryl started passing round her jelly as soon as F'peck had their share of jelly.

In the meantime, our respective PLs sat with us and asked us why we hate guides or what issues do we have with guides that we are not happy with. At once, almost everyone spoke up and there was overwhelming response. :0 As we spoke, we ate with much pleasure as the jelly was DARN good. Once we started eating it, we could not stop .. Especially Nia and Chomel. Haha. Once we were done complaining, we started chatting and sharing with each other the highlights of our week and laughed together at anything funny. I really felt a bond between us and I was glad for that. What we talked about of course, will not be disclosed. :P

Soon, 5.45pm was approaching so the PLs fell us in and did some footdrills with us while waiting for the wallets' bag to arrive. Once it came, we were 're-fallen in' in the horseshoe position and listened to announcements. After that, we were dismissed and we thanked the guider present, Mrs Tan, Qarissa and the PLs before heading home.

Yesh, I'm finished with this post. On to the next one! Yipee! Haha.

Supp!
We had an official meeting on 22 February from 2.45pm to 4.45pm. It was a rather awesome meeting as it was celebrations throughout! Know why? It was THINKING DAY! :D Haha. So, with such a special occasion, we had a PART-AE! :P

Anyway, we fell in at 2.50pm. F'peck was going to do flag on that day. Sherwynn was the flag bearer. However, while the PLs were calling the roll, dark clouds started to blanket the sky and we panicked. By the time Kai Li gave the command for colour party to fall out and take over, it started drizzling very lightly so we immediately fell out and ran into the shade. There, we fell in again at the empty space used for changing parades. We waited there for a while and later changed venue and fell in at the vacant space near the chapel. That was when the PLs announced the new PS of Sparrow patrol, Charmaine! :D Upon hearing her name, she marched to the centre of the horseshoe, saluted to Ms Soh and received her stripes while we clapped and cheered for her. After that, we could start the party! Yay! :D

Thus, we went to the canteen, grabbed our food items and reserved a table for each of our patrols. Everyone spread their tablecloths on the table and laid out all their food. It was an amazing spread. There was fried bee hoon/rice, bottles of sparkling juice, assorted jelly, drinks and much more. The PLs then asked the usual question. 'Which patrol wants to say grace?' This sent almost everyone shouting their patrol's name, in the hope of getting chosen. In the end, Sparrow said grace as they had a new PS so the PLs gave them the chance. :D

As soon as grace was said, everyone started taking out their bottles of sparkling juice, intending to pop it and drink to their heart's content. However, as it had been raining previously, not every patrol went out to pop their bottles so they simply popped them in the canteen with the only exception that they could not shake the bottles. Kingfish was one of the patrols which went out to pop by the way.

When each patrol had popped their own bottles, they 'yam-senged' the guides' way at their own time and it was really loud! :D Thereafter, we began feasting and out of nowhere, a short sharp scream came from Mynah's table and when everyone turned around, we realised that Wei Jing had tried to open her sparkling juice bottle and the cork had flew out and hit her on the forehead. She had sreamed in shock (just like what she always does) Haha. If i'm not wrong, this happened twice! :D

Feasting time was over at about 4pm and the PLs fell us in then. They gave us a limited time to clear up our rubbish and then fall in again. While in fall in, we were told to get into our patrol corners and discuss about issues, ranging from anything to anything (because we were not given a topic to talk about) We were just suppose to get to know one another better. :) So when we fell out, we did just that and chatters soon filled the canteen. Dove had initially started with talking about the day and the food but it later evolved into playing games though as we felt we could connect more through games. Haha.

Time passed so quickly and before we knew it, 4.45 came so we fell in at the field but in the midst of falling in, the flag pole (with no flag on it) dropped and we found out that someone had kicked the lashing and it had broken, causing the pole to fall. It gave us quite a fright but we soon simmered down and listened to announcements before falling out and being dismissed.

Boo!
We had an unofficial meeting on Wednesday, 10 February, from 2.45pm - 5.45pm. Fall in was at 2.45 and we reported strength then. Phototaking was supposed to be on that day but it had been postponed to the next day so we were allowed to keep our uniforms in the den at the end of the meeting.

After changing out of our pinafores and finishing inspection, we were told to split into groups to teach the Secondary 1s the knots and parts of 'Colour Party'. In my group, we started off by introducing the 2 knots of 'Colour Party', mainly the 'Clovage' and 'Peter Rabbit'.

As my juniors and I joined our present group later, the Secondary 1 we taught had already learnt the beginning of 'Peter Rabbit' so all we had to do was revise with her and make sure she could do it properly. To train her in tying it quickly, I timed her and pushed her to tie it within 20 seconds. We later taught her how to shift the knot and that was when she started to experience difficulty.

After awhile, I noticed that she was getting bored and discouraged by the fact that she could not shift the knot correctly so I decided to teach her a knot that I was certain she would definitely master: CLOVAGE! :D Haha. It was the simplest knot so I knew it would lighten her spirits. True enough, she learnt it quickly and she was happy that she could finally do something right. Haha.

Then, she got back to practicing tying her 'Peter Rabbit'. When she had mastered it, my group went to the flag pole to teach the juniors the procedure for colour party. However, it got really SUNNY so we had to return to the shade. There, we revised with them 'fall in' and 'fall out' before the PLs fell us in and practiced footdrills with us.

Thereafter, we were told to go to an empty classroom so we ran there and when everyone was present, the respective PLs from each patrol announced the new recruits of their respective patrols. Here are the new recruits:

K'FISH: Anastasia, Jananinr, Vanessa and Dhilfer
MYNAH: Chloe, Meeratchi and Alyssa

Soon, we were briefed on the change of plans for the March Camp and the PLs also gave their comments on our March Camp proposal. They said it was not up to their expectations. They commented that it was all games and games. It would be too tiring. So, they asked a representative from each patrol to come up and pick a number. From the number chosen, we would be given a component to work on. After being told what our component was, we got into our groups and started discussing. We were given a limited amount of time to discuss before having to present a rough plan.

Soon, it was time to present and for my group, we got Claudia to present so that we could get the juniors involved. After presentation time was over, it was already approaching 5.45 so we fell in and listened to announcements and later fell out.

As phototaking had been postponed to the following day, we were allowed to keep our guides uniform in the Den. Then, we took our leave.

Yeah, I'm finished for this post. Here's wishing everyone a happy CNY! :D

Hi Hi!
We had an unofficial meeting today from 2.45pm to 4.45pm. We fell in at 2.45 and changed out of our pinafores after reporting strength. Then, we fell in again and the PLs told us to choose at least 2 Secondary 1s for each patrol and teach them the basics of footdrills.

We started off by re-capping on what we taught them last week: fall in and fall out. When they were sure of what to do, we moved onto 'kekiri', kekanan' and 'keblakan'. Those who had time managed to squueze in abit of 'hentak kaki jepat hentak'. It was challenging for us seniors to teach some of the juniors as they were either too shy or simply had no respect for the seniors. :( This clearly made Cheryl very upset.

After awhile, those who were chosen to march for Total Defence Day had to start practicing. The people who are marching are: PLs, PSes, Chomel, Dion, Si Ying, Yong Qi and a few others which I cannot remember. Reserves are Bhavani and Olivia.

We started off by practicing on our own and later proceeded with combining with Red Cross to have the full effect. We did it many times, having breaks after each round. Finally, we stopped and Pamela gave us a break before making us do footdrills to sharpen our skills for Friday's big event. Then, we practiced for a few more times before ending off there.

As the Secondary 2s were new to this, there were sone parts which they were not too familiar with such as the raising of our right fists. It was supposed to hover but they rested it on their hearts so the PLs corrected them. As always, the most difficult was the 'left, check, over' part. Once we turned our heads, our formation would start to slant to one side so we tried our best to adapt and ensure that the formation would not tilt as much as possible.

After awhile, 4.45 pm came so we fell in and listened to announcements before falling out and going home.

Yup. So this is how Monday's meeting went. Until then, CIAO!

Hi!
We had an official meeting on Wednesday, 3 January, from 2.45pm - 5.45pm. Dove was to do flag on that day. It was also was the day when we would get to see our new Secondary 1 recruits for the 1st time! :D They were so cute!

We fell in at the field at 2.50pm as the flagbearer was still tying the flag to the flag pole. The Secondary 1s stood on the track, observing in silence with Mrs. Tan with them. In the horseshoe position, Kai Li gave the command for the colour party to fall out and for them to take over. However, things began to go very bad at this point in time..

Sara, the flagbearer, had forgotten to give commands to her colour party when marching to the flag pole and instead of marching behind Kai Li to get to the flag pole, she marched in front of Kai Li so she had to go around Kai Li to get to the flag pole. This was mistake #1. Then, when she tried to tug at the string to break the flag, she could not. So she kept tugging and then, the worst thing ever happened! The string broke off from the flag and the flag fell to the field!:( At this, the whole coy went 'ohh'. It was most embarrassing for Dove patrol and myself! I knew then, that we were screwed.

After that, we were given 3 minutes to change into our PE attire but Kai Li told Dove to stay back. While everyone was busy changing, Mrs. Tan came over and asked Sara for an explanation. In turn, Natalie also asked me why this happened. After all that explaining and feeling scared, we were finally allowed to change. While changing, I'm sure we were all wondering what sort of punishment the PLs were going to give us.

Later, we joined the coy again and this time, we went to an empty classroom on Level 1. We held the introductory powerpoint presentation there. The slides were animated in such a way that it was obvious that Kai Li did it. :) Before it began, Cheryl invited the Secondary 1s to introduce themselves, saying their name and something interesting about themselves. Through this, I learnt that this year's batch was rather studious as quite a handful of them said 'I like reading', 'I like chinese' and 'I like math'! Wow! :D I was still feeling down and sorry at the beginning of the slideshow but later felt better when all PSes and PLs were introduced. We also had to explain to the Secondary 1s what our different roles were, such as mine, a historian. After talking so much, I sat down feeling much lighter as I could finally speak and let out my frustrations. There wasn't a hint of anger in my voice though. I just found refuge when I started talking. :) In between some slides, Mrs. Tan would ask the juniors questions to see if they understood what was going on and well, they did, thankfully! :)

At the end of the slideshow, we fell in at the outdoor stage and the PLs told the juniors that the seniors were going to demonstrate what footdrill was. We did abit of it and after awhile, stopped because it was games time! :D We started off by sitting in a circle and introducing ourselves, stating only our names, class and patrol. Then, we played '007'. From this, we could tell that Cheryl was an expert at this game as she was very very quick in shouting her enemy's name! That meant she was very alert, or very high. Haha. In the end, the winner was Nicole from F'peck! Congrats! :D

We then played double wacko for awhile and it was most fun but I pitied the juniors as they were still not familiar with our names so they had difficulty looking for the right person to smack. The seniors did not help by pointing in random directions when calling the person's name. This made the juniors more confused. Later, we swopped positions, front people to the back and vice-versa. This continued till the PLs changed to a new game.

Next, we played animal concentration. In a circle, the PLs explained the rules of the game but some people did not know how to play so those who knew demonstrated for those who did not. Following that, we split into 2 circles and the game commenced. It was very fun at 1st, what with all the funny actions that everyone came up with but it soon got quite boring as some people lost and had to sit down and they got bored so the PLs started a new game and this time, we were going to play the all too familiar..

'Squirrel and Trees' game! Everyone found a group of 3 and formed a tree and squirrel. The PLs then called out 'hunter', 'earthquake' and 'fire' at random. Each time a specific was called, it sent everyone screaming while they were finding their places. Our noise pollution was disturbing the Choir girls who were in the PAR so a representative came out to ask if we could lower our volume. Thus, we tried to play the game in hush screams but it was a little difficult so some of us 'shooshed' the others whenever they made a loud noise.

Soon, game time was over and we fell in. The PLs told us that we were to teach the juniors how to fall in and fall out. With that, we fell out and divided into our patrols. Each patrol called in a few Secondary 1s and began teaching them the basics. Each patrol had no more than 3 juniors. Within a specific time, the PLs fell us in and gave us 4 minutes to change back into our guides uniform as it was approaching 5.30pm. So, we ran like mad, grabbed our uniforms and changed.

After that, we fell in in a horseshoe formation and announcements were made. Before falling out, we sang taps and later thanked Mrs Tan, YA (who was present throughout the meeting) and the PLs.

Wow. This is a long post. Anyway, I would like to apologise to the guiders, YA, PLs, the coy and the juniors for the horrible accident at the start of the meeting. Mark my words that I will never let this happen again, ever! I truly am sorry. Thank you!

Heya!
We had an unofficial meeting last Wednesday, 27th January from 2.45pm - 5.45pm. We were going to do testings! Or at least try to do 1! :) We fell in at 2.45pm, reported strength and then changed out of our pinafores. Those who had not had lunch were given 10 minutes to eat. Thereafter, they were to report to a classroom where everyone was housed in on the 1st level.

When everyone was present in the room, we saw that Natalie had taken out the big grey file which contained all our testings cards. There, she called up some people to tell them which point and module to learn before being tested. The Secondary 2s had already started their testings as they were told on the previous meeting of what testing to study over the days leading up to this day's meeting.

On the other hand, some of the Secondary 3s were not given anything to do so we took the initiative to study what we wanted to be tested on and then told Natalie to pass us the question paper. However, not everyone did testings so those who had nothing to do had to go to the classroom next door. Also, YA, who was also present, wanted to hold a meeting with the PLs, I think so Natalie had to leave. Before leaving, she left Dorothy in charge of everyone who were still doing their testings. Natalie had also instructed Dorothy to collect everyone's testings after they were done and after that, get everyone to go to the classroom next door.

Once we stepped into the classroom, we took our seats and found that we had to do assignments to attain our Accident Proficiency Badge. We were told to get into groups of 3 and do the following:
1. Write a letter to your newly employed domestic helper, informing her of how to look after your younger siblings (4-6 years old) and grandparents (70 years and below)

2. Pick one of your group member's house and identify 5 hazards. Take pictures of these before and after changing them to remove hazards

3. Make 3 posters to show safety at sea, land and road traffic

All these were to be handed in on the next guides meeting. At about close to 5pm, we fell in at the outdoor stage and did footdrills. However, the PLs had added a twist to it. It was something that I had never done before. Firstly, we fell in and the PLs told us to shut our eyes. We were going to be doing footdrills with our eyes closed! Sounds easy? Think again! Some of us could not estimate how much to turn so when it was time for us to open our eyes, we found that we were not in the neat rows that we once were before the footdrills.

Then, we did a little more footdrills, this time with our eyes opened and stopped after awhile. Kai Li later asked us how we felt about doing this 'Blind Footdrill'. I said that it was very hard as we could not see where we were going. After a few comments, she told us that we were going to do more of this 'Blind Footdrill'. She also added that we needed to sharpen our footdrill skills as the Secondary 1s would be coming in on the next meeting and we had to set a good example for them.

When Kai Li had finished speaking, we proceeded to use the last 10 minutes to play double wacko! :D It was superbly fun! Chomel was just like a siren: screaming at the top of her lungs when her name was called. Lol! Haha. :D Then, 5.45pm came so we fell in and listened as announcements were made such as the upcoming ACSI gangshow/campfire. After that, we fell out, thanked the guider present and the PLs and made our way out.

I'm so glad that i'm finally on par with the present meetings! No longer lagging! Yippee! :D Haha.

Yoz!
We had an unofficial meeting on the 25th of January, from 2.45pm - 4.30pm. On this meeting, we revised our first aid skills and sang campfire songs! :D Fall in was at 2.45 and we reported strength. We then changed out of our pinafores and headed to an empty classroom on Level 2. It was the classroom nearest to the Primary School block and nearest to the Staff Room. :)

As Thinking Day was approaching, we started off the meeting with CAMPFIRE SONGS! How awesome is that? Haha. The first song was the 'Adiji Yell', followed by the rest. We sung the songs one by one, going down the list. However, there were a couple of songs which Cheryl had asked us to repeat, solely because we sounded dead. On some occasions, she also told the PSes not to sing as she believed the coy was depending on us to sing and all they had to do was mouth the words.

Oh, Qarissa was also present so she made us sing until she was satisfied and thought that we had sounded enthusiastic and loud enough. She also told us,'Even if you don't feel like singing, can you please try to sound more enthusiastic? At least smile or something!' :) Apart from singing, the seniors had to also teach the juniors the actions to songs like 'Cannibal King' and 'Jamaican Farewell' as Cheryl noted that they were not familiar with the actions. After giving us some time to teach, we sang it again.

Soon, when we had finished all the songs, we moved on to FIRST AID! :) The PLs told us to split into groups with at least 1 PS in each group. Then, they asked who knew how to tie the 'elevated' and 'armsling'. I was not sure if I could remember how to tie or not as the last I tied them was during the 1st aid course I had attended last june .. :( Later, each group was to send out a representative to collect a bandage. Once we got back, we were to start teaching immediately as the juniors would be tested.

I'm so grateful to my group members and Dorothy who still remembered how to tie the 'elevated' as I could not. I could only remember the 'armsling'. So disappointed in myself. Anyway, after awhile, the PLs announced who they had chosen to come up front and tie a particular bandage which they had also chosen. The chosen ones were to bring along a partner for them to tie the bandage on. After the bandaging process, Joycelyn checked the bandages and passed those that were neat and properly tied. When all this was done, we were to keep the bandages and then fall in at the outdoor stage area.

There, we were going to do footdrills! :0 This time, we had more time to spare so that meant we were going to do more of it! However, in the midst of practicing, the Secondary 4s were told to fall out. I think the PLs wanted to give them a break since they were graduating this year but they could not just stand there and do nothing so they were given the authority to command the whole coy in our foordrills. They stood in a straight line and hollered commands one by one, starting from Caroline. :) When they were done, they fell back in again and we practiced for the last few minutes before 4.30pm came.

Soon, it was time to be dismissed so we fell in and listened to whatever announcements that had to be made. After which, we fell out and made our way home! :D

Yep. So this is what happened on 25th January.

Hello!
We had an unofficial meeting on 20th January from 2.45pm - 5.45pm. Ok. Firstly, I would like to apologise for spoiling the Guides Blog today. It was due to my itchy fingers. I changed the template and the coy picture is gone, together with comments made by everyone, including the whole list of the previous PLC and PSC! To all those that made the blog possible, a thousand apologies to you. I feel extremely horrible right now! I'm really sorry. Also, I'm very worried that Natalie will scold me! :( I'm terrified now. Will definitely not have a good sleep! I'm so sorry! :( But thanks to sherwynn's help, I've managed to put in the list of PLC and PSC for 04/05 and 05/06. Unfortunately, I can't find 06/07 so I will ask Natalie for their names.

So, during this meeting, we did pioneering. This was in preparation for our whole day event with the Monfort scouts. We were going to tie the Roman Catapult! :D The last time the seniors tied this structure was at the end of 2007 so their memory for this got a little rusty. Thus, the PLs were trying to recall while we tied part of it. Firstly, we tied 2 A-frames, which was a combination of 2 black-whites and a blue-green for each. Following that, we took 2 blue-greens to tie at the front of the A-frame, making it in an 'X' shape. Afterwards, we tied 2 black-whites to the A-frame such that it looked almost like a wheelbarrow. Later, we tied another black-white across the 2 poles. Then, we brought it out to the outdoor stage (we were at the corridor as it had been drizzling earlier) to bring the last few pieces together before we could fully operate it. We tied one last black-white onto the horizontal line of the A-frame and just had to attach a holder to it but was not in time to finish. Luckily, the other group managed to finish assembling the whole structure. With that, we tied a dustpan to the lever and put Joycelyn's slipper onto it and .. FIRED! It was great fun and Dorothy also encouraged the juniors to trying firing the catapult. When we had finished having fun, we were given a time limit to clear up and assemble back at the outdoor stage.

When everyone had returned, we fell in and did footdrills. We started with the 'satu tua' footdrill. The aim of it was to form a perfect square for foordrills. Quite alot of time was spent on that formation technique as the PLs kept 'semula-ing' us. This was because we did not shout loud enough. It was quite funny at first but later got quite tired of it. As majority of the meeting time was spent on pioneering, we did not have much time to work on our 'satu tua' footdrill and other commands as well.

Okie doke. I'm finished! Yay! Haha. :D

Waa-zzup people!
CCA Orientation Day was on 16 January. We were required to be in school by 7.55am and we fell in at 8am. PSes reported strength and we were then given 2 minutes to change out of our pinafores. Soon, it was time to prepare our booth! :D

Cheryl told Dove and Flowerpecker to get black-white poles and blue-green poles to tie 2 quadrapods that would be used to hold the 'Girl Guides' banner. In addition, the remaining patrols were to also take more poles to tie the swing. Some went to fetch the poles while the others went to fetch the gadget poles to tie the swing seat.

In the midst of our preparation, I took out my camera to whip some photos of the early stages of progress for our booth. (I have uploaded some of the many pictures taken so feel free to check them out) 4 to 5 people started tying the 2 quadrapods each while some of the others started pecking in the flag pole. In the meantime, the Secondary 4 seniors were busy rafting the swing seat. Estelle had come back during this important event to see us for one last time before leaving .. :(

The PLs had a talk with Ms Soh before setting up the tent and then weighing it down with bricks. In the tent, they put a poster which had pictures of our previous events pasted on them. It even contained pictures of the PLs from the batch of 07 and 08! :0 Wow! Haha.

Soon, all the preparations were almost done so we hung up the banner and when everyone was finished, we fell in and were given 3 minutes to change into our Guides uniform. After that, we proceeded back to the field to await further instructions. Later, we fell in again and this time, Qarissa, who had also come back, took pictures of us who were in 'fall in' position.

However, things turned our pretty bad for me very soon. What happened was that I felt something tickling my chest and I initially thought it was sweat trickling down but when I looked down, I saw a FLY crawling on my chest! :0 It was disgusting and I did not dare get a closer look! Soon, I was yelping softly and Kai Li noticed it. She came over and I simply told her, 'There's a fly crawling inside my shirt!' Joycelyn had heard me and she began looking at the back of my shirt but I corrected her and said, 'In front!' I did not expect her to actually peep but .. she did, though only for a split second. Haha. As this went on, I noticed that my chest was not tickling anymore and then, it started again, this time at my stomach! :0 Eww! I could not take it anymore so Kai Li got me to fall out and tuck out my shirt to release the fly so that it might see no evil. :P When I did that, the fly dropped out and you cannot imagine how relieved I felt! :D

After all that drama, we fell out and were assigned shifts to promote guides! Dove went first. We were given stickers and the 'freebies' that we made to give out to the Secondary 1s. We split up and made our way. Soon, it was F'peck's turn and they did the same. The following patrols then continued while some stayed behind to finish the last bits of the swing. In the end, it was done and it was so beautiful! :D Thanks guys! The Secondary 1s got to try it and I'm sure they enjoyed themselves as much as we enjoyed ourselves and that day.

The event ended at 12plus and we had to clear up the vacinity that we occupied. We untied the structures, kept the poles and the tables and chairs that we used and returned to the field when all was done. Qarissa then told us to stand in a straight line such that we occupied the width of the field. From there, she wanted us to comb the entire field, walking back and forth to pick up any pieces of trash. There were stickers, plastics and others that were found strewn all over the field. Tsk Tsk.

After that, we fell in and announcements were made and we were then dismissed.

Reflection: I feel that this year's CCA Day was much more enjoyable than last year's as I was definitely more involved in the preparation. I did as much as I could and had as much fun as I could while promoting this wonderful CCA to the Secondary 1s. I hope that the newcomers will enjoy guides as much as I am now and learn many new skills, varying from person to person during their guiding life!

Hi Hi!
We had an unofficial meeting on 13 January, from 2.45pm - 4.45pm. Again, like the previous meeting, we were going to do the last few bits of our preparation for CCA Orientation Day. We fell in at 2.45pm and reported strength before changing out of our pinafores. The PLs then told us to go to an empty classroom and it was there that we continued to work on the final details of our 'gifts and stickers' and while everyone was busy with their own tasks, the PSes had asked permission from the PLs to use the time to do the Thinking Day Banner as it would be due on the coming Friday.

They agreed and with that, we immediately started work without wasting any precious time. Ada, Brenda and I painted the vines while Dorothy and Sherwynn worked together to bring the last guide to life. Sherwynn's artistic skills are brilliant! :D Then, YA came out and offered us her help. We politely declined, knowing that this was our job and it was not right to accept the help from someone else who was not responsible for this. So she returned to the classroom and checked on how everyone was getting along.

However, a few moments later, she came out again nonetheless and this time, without hesitaing, propped herself on the floor and told us that she wanted to help. We definitely felt grateful to her and thanked her. Soon, when the guide had been drawn, Dorothy, Sherwynn and YA started to paint the block letters that read 'ONE FAMILY'. They painted it yellow and I thought it was beautiful. As time went buy, our arms were starting to get tired from all the painting so Ada was smart enough to add a hint of fun to our assignment. She dabbed a tinch of green paint onto my legs. In playful revenge, I too dabbed some paint on her and not wanting to leave Brenda out of the 'fun', I dabbed some paint onto her legs as well. After all that playing, we got back to work and did it with more ease after having been able to relax for awhile.

Then, we had to paint some texts blue and in the midst of painting, Ada and I suddenly gasped. We had realised the same thing. The blue paint was of exactly the same tone as the complexion of the 'Naveens', characters from 'THE AVATAR'. We both decided to paint one of our palms blue as we were fascinated at the thought of being a 'Naveen'.

Soon, time passed so quickly and 4.45pm had come. We had had so much fun and even through that, we managed to finish painting the banner with the exception of the Girl Guides. Those were to be left for the next day. At 4.45pm, we fell in and announcements were made about CCA Orientation Day. We were then dismissed and before leaving the compound, we thanked the guider, YA and the PLs.

So .. This is the end of another Guides meeting, with many more to come. Especially the next - CCA Orientation Day.

Hello!
We had an unofficial meeting on 11 January, from 2.30pm - 4.30pm. We were going to be preparing for CCA Orientation Day, which would be on 16 January.

We fell in at 2.30pm and PSes reported strength. Thereafter, we changed out of our pinafores and were told to get our materials (construction paper and scissors) and head to an empty classroom. There, we were going to make the same things we did as last year.

Firstly, we sat in patrols and Kai Li gave each patrol a specific job to do. Dove was suppose to cut chopsticks into 4 or 5 pieces each, Flowerpecker to fold and cut each piece of paper into 16 pieces and the rest of the patrols to paste the chopsticks onto each piece of paper, adding a paper fire, such that it looks like a campfire! :D Follwing that, they have to also write 'Join Guides' etc. on the paper.

While we were in the midst of doing our work, Cheryl called out a few girls to tie the structure repuired for CCA Orientation Day. We kept doing this all the way till 4.00pm before falling in at the outdoor stage area and doing footdrills. After awhile, the PLs told Dove patrol to fall out and clean up the classroom we had used. We were to leave no traces of trash. :) When we were done, we fell back in and continued foordrills together with the coy.

At 4.30pm, when the wallets bag had been brought down, we fell in into 'Horseshoe Formation' and from there, announcements were made such as when the next meeting would be and who was due to go for the 'Clay-sculpting' course. After that, we were dismissed. We thanked the Guider for that day and the PLs too before making a move.

I know, this post is really short as we only focused on CCA Orientation Day preparation and footdrills so please excuse me. Sorry and thanks.

Heya!
This is the 2nd day of the Secondary1 Orientation Campfire (better known as cleaning up day).

We were woken up by Cheryl at 7.00am and she told us that fall in would be at 7.30. Everyone rolled up their sleeping bags and grabbed their toiletries and headed for the washroom. After washing up, we changed into our socks and shoes and brought all our belongings down to the canteen. The PLs then fell us in. PSes reported strength and we were given 45min to have our breakfast.

When we were done eating, we fell in again and were told to start clearing up. We were also expected to finish by 10.30am. Item immediately started to transport back the podiums but we had a little bit of difficulty this time as they were a tad bit damp. It was disgusting. But we still managed to finish way before time and so went to collect the groundsheets which were left hanging at the fitness corner overnight to dry by Natalie. Some had not dried yet so we folded the ones which were dry and brought the rest to the parade square where the sun was shining brightly to sundry it. That process was rather fun as Charis, Ada and I found a fun and quick way to dry it: Hold it at the corners and run like the wind for a short distance. At the end, they were much more dry. However, we could not apply our newly-discovered method as it would be too tiring to keep running. So we stuck to the original plan. While waiting for them to dry, we helped firepit clean up too.

After that, we got a 3min water break and soon fell in. Kai Li told us that we were going to be given 10min to go around places that we had used the day before and pick up any pieces of trash. The canteen was squeaky clean so we all went to the parade square. There were pieces of paper, spoilt twine and others there. When 10mins was over, we fell in again and Kai Li told us to give ourselves a round of applause as we had finished clearing up ahead of time. :D Yay! For that, she was going to help us buy bubble tea, but not treat us. However, not everyone wanted so the PLs brought our a huge bottle of green tea and rose syrup from the Den, together with disposable cups and bowls.

In the midst of resting and quenching our thirst, Kai Li wanted us to give our comments on the whole campfire stay and also wanted us to give our comments about each PL, individually. This was because they wanted to know what we thought of them and if there were any flaws, they would gladly improve. The whole motive of this session was because we were going to have a camp during the March vacation. It was going to be a 3 Day 2 Night camp that the coy would be planning together, without the interference of the PLs except the logistics and such. When all this discussion was over, we did footdrills for awhile and later were dismissed promptly at 12pm.

Hi!
On 8 January, we had the Secondary1 Orientation Campfire - a major event that we have been preparing since a long time ago. Thus, with this much effort, we anticipated that much enthusiasm during the campfire from the Secondary1s, PSLs and parents. Thankfully, we were not let down. In fact, we were blown away by the Secondary1's enthusiasm. It really caught us by surprise! :D

Ok, here are the details about the last preparation ..

We fell in immediately after assembly and Kai Li told us that we were going to have a briefing from certain teachers so we had to attend the briefing first. After that would be CE lessons so we were only to meet at the parade square after CE lessons, which was 8.50am. At that time, all the Secondary 3s and most of the Secondary 2s had gathered at the parade square so we decided to sit and wait for the PLs and the rest of the coy.

At about 9plus, everyone was present so the PLs fell us in and told us what time recess would be (9.50) and briefed us on what we were to do after lunch. We were also told to remove our pinafores and pass them to the PS of our patrol. She would then collect them, check that the belts were in the loop, fold them, stack them and put them in the Den for safe-keeping. After that, everyone got busy with intensive preparation. Although we had the whole day, we had to ensure that every single detail was perfect so we did not want to waste any time. However, recess time came so we went to eat our fill before starting on all the laborious work.

After recess, Natalie rounded up the Item girls and we did the usual - transport the podiums down. She wanted it to be done by 11 plus. Thankfully, we had everyone present so things were much more efficient than the previous meetings as everyone was very familiar with the procedures and such. After all the podiums had been brought down, we helped the backdroppers put up their backdrop with the help of Mr. Rashid, Uncle Francis and Mr. Tang on the 2nd floor. :) Then, we had to adjust the banner as we had to ensure it was parallel to the fire so we shifted it but then, we noticed the banner was not aligned with the stage so we had to shift it but later decided to get the firepitters to shift their firepit instead as it was so tiring shifting the stage so many times! :O

Following that, we finally started rehearsing, non full-dress 1st. We kept rehearsing till the Secondary1s made an appearance at the parade square so we had to shift our rehearsal location as we did not want them to see the performance way before the campfire. Before that, Mr. Tang was at the parade square too, checking the visualizer screens. Then, he advised us to paste 'red-white tapes onto the edges of the stage so as to prevent any accidents. Thus, we went to the hall but it was occupied as there was a NECIP talk going on in there so we just had to return to the parade square and wait for the Secondary1s to finish their activities.

By the time they were gone, the sky was getting dark so we decided to bring out the groundsheets to cover the stage lest it rained during lunch. By then, we were all tired so what we needed to do was to eat! Thankfully, it was lunch time already! We were released for lunch at 2pm and were told to caome back in 45min and were also adsvised not to eat too much as dinner time was around the corner.

After lunch we got back to work and guess what .. Qarissa was here to visit! :D Soon, while rehearsing, we felt raindrops and then, it started to rain. A drizzle started which later escalated to a heavy rain in no time. Everyone rushed to cover the stage with the groundsheets and cover the firepit with their cloth. Luckily, we covered it while it was still drizzling so .. no harm done. :) There was also very strong wind and this made the newspapers fly so we had to catch them. When everything was securely in place, we came back to the corridor and were all drenched from head to toe. All of us then made our way to the canteen to await our dinner but before that, we dried off. Those who were supposed to wear Guides uniform for the campfire gladly changed while the rest changed into slippers.

Although we were damp, our dinner consoled us as it was delicious! :P After dinner, we returned to the parade square and found that the speakers and IT stuff were already set up. The ground was wet and this made it impossible for anyone to sit so Mrs. Nicks brought out 2 GIGANTIC canvas sheets to lay on the ground. We, together with some councillors and Mr Daryl Chan helped spread it. Soon, it was time to do a sound check and the Item girls (especially Charis) could not wait to hear their lovely voices coming from the speakers and sounding everywhere. Haha. :D We did 1 last rehearsal while holding the microphone and was finally done. By this time, when all was done, parents were already starting to file in and our usherers politely brought them to their seats.

Just before the campfire started, Item girls said a prayer together and thanked God for the weather. An awesome group hug followed! <3>

After all the classes had performed, it was our turn, the Item girls, to perform our long-prepared-for performance! We were definitely nervous but we did well for both the skit and dance! Yay! <3>

Later, we fell in and were told to gather our bathing gear and wait in the canteen for further instructions. When all had assembled except the Firepitters who had to help with the firepit, the PLs announced that Dove and Flowerpecker were to go into the washroom and could start bathing when told to do so. The 'safe people' were to bathe on the right side while the injured and those who were having their ahem were to bathe on the left side. Safe-ers were given 3mins to shower and the others were given 5min. Firepitters were given 10min.

When everyone had finished showering, they either returned to the canteen for supper, stayed in the classroom to rest or helped to keep Ms Soh awake by sitting by her while she and sherwynn (who later went to shower) did the attendance checking and stuff. A few moments before we had to report to the Performing Arts Room for COH, the lights went off and I screamed. This sent the other girls screaming as well and I later felt very bad for frightening them so I apologized.

We sat in a circle during COH and Mrs Tan was present with us. We were firstly suppose to express our thoughts on that day and also state what we had learnt from that day too. Next, Mrs Tan gave both positive and negative feedback to all of us about the day followed by Qarissa giving her own feedback. Mrs Tan then wanted explanations for the mistakes that we had made. When COH was over, the PLs said that lights out would be at 11.30pm, 11.35 being the latest.

This is the end of the 1st day of the campfire. The next would be about our cleaning up!

Hey!
We had an unofficial meeting last week, 6 January, from 2.45pm - 5.45pm. It was supposed to be from 2.30 - 5.30 but because assembly would be ending at 2.10, we had to have enough time for lunch so the time was pushed up by 15 minutes.

We fell in at 2.45 and reported strength. Dove had FULL STRENGTH! :D Whoo-hoo! Haha. We then changed out of our pinafores and fell in again. After that, we were told to separate into our various components and start the intensive preparation. But meanwhile, Cheryl and Pamela wanted the PSes to hand in all consent forms that were due. Following that, Item immediately went to get our props and costumes. For once, EVERY Item-ian was present! Yay! :D

We then proceeded to bring down the podiums from the band room. Luckily, we had everyone present so work was sped up significantly. Natalie wanted us to bring down all 10 podiums in half an hour, so we were racing against time! As the last few podiums were being transported down, we got really tired so Natalie gave us a break and asked some Firepitters who were free to come help carry the podiums. Joycelyn helped to carry 1 of them with 3 other people and she was 'oofing and uffing' and complaining how heavy it was. I offered to help but Natalie told me to let Joycelyn carry it. Haha. Poorthing!

When the stage was ready, we began to rehearse and things went rather smoothly. We started with non-full dress rehearsal followed by full dress and also practiced hard on the dance steps, ensuring that we could remember every step. It was very tiring but we still persevered as we knew the end result would be rewarding. Everyone was busy with their own preparations. Firepitters stacking the firewood and soaking them, Structure girls tying their newly-designed structure, Backdroppers making sure their backdrop was ready and last but not least, Item girls rehearsing non-stop with a couple of water breaks now and then.

Soon, it was 5.oopm so some components started clearing up while the rest continued practicing for a little while more. When everything was cleared, majority of the people went to an empty classroom to wait for the wallets bag while the Item girls continued to transport back the last few podiums. Some of us had no idea that everyone was in the classroom so we waited at the parade square corridor while the rest continued to bring up the last podium. Suddenly, we heard Cheryl shouting and realised that it was meant for us. She said," Do you know that everyone is waiting for you?! What are you doing here?! Hurry up!" That got us scrambling to our feet and rushing to the classroom.

Once everyone was present, Kai Li gave us a brief brief, (haha), telling us the Camp Kit List for Friday's overnight stay. When all was done, we were dismissed from the classroom as it was raining and we had no time to fall in because we had delayed by about 10min so it was getting late.

Here. I'm finished. I know I've not posted for at least a week so i apologise for the late posts. School reopen has been crazy for me and i'm sure, everyone too. Sorry.

Hello earthlings!
We had an unofficial meeting today from 7.55am - 5pm. The whole meeting was dedicated to Secondary1 Orientation Campfire Trial.

At 7.55am, we fell in and reported strength. Sadly, not everyone turned up today .. again! This caused the PLs to urge us PSes to persuade our patrol members to come. They also said that Guides, including every other CCA, should come before tuition and project work. It was only if we had a valid reason that we could be excused from any meeting.

Next, we changed out of our pinafores and split into our various components. Once again, Item was short of members and Natalie was pissed. I think she was on the verge of killing people. Haha. Kidding. Anyway, we had until 12.55 to get everything ready before lunch time arrived so everyone set to work immediately! :) During this whole preparation period, Item rehearsed non stop under the guidance of YA, Natalie and Amanda. It was quite tough but very worthwhile as we could improve on our mistakes and thus make the show a much enjoyable one.

We started off by practicing our lines and perfecting our dance steps before moving on to full dress rehearsal at the outdoor stage. We wanted to move because Natalie felt it was better to expose us to the feeling of performing on stage. We stayed there for awhile before proceeding to the Hall. However, things got quite bad there as the Badminton players were occupying it as well so that meant we had to perform in front of them! (Equals to Lifelong Humiliation). Luckily, Natalie allowed us to speak softly but she didn't spare us from the dance though. After a few, rehearsals, we finally took a break and started talking about our 'life experiences'. ;D It was very intriguing. Haha.

In the end, time flew so fast as we were having a good time laughing that we could only have time to do 1 last rehearsal. But we had already practiced so hard so 1 last rehearsal was good enough. Soon, it was time to fall in to get dismissed for lunch. Lunchbreak was 45 minutes. Natalie told the Item girls to eat our fill as we were going to carry down the Podium from the Band Room to use as our stage.

Lunchtime ended in a jiffy and we fell in again to continue our preparations, This time, we had until 2.30pm before the trial would start. From here onwards, the Item girls were going to be working out. Firstly, we split into 2 groups. Each group took turns to move out 1 podium, push it to the lift, push it out, and carry it to the parade square. After awhile, we decided to swap roles. 1 group would be in charge of transporting the podiums down while the other group would be in charge of transporting it to the parade square. The process was really laborious! Then, the Firepitters needed help to light their bonfire so I used a lighter to light the kerosene-soaked cloth so that they could light the fire. Following that, Wei Jing carried the pole to the zinc sheet which was strewn with sand to let the other Firepitters extinguish it.

Soon, we had to get back to doing our Item stuff so we went back to the Podium. We planned how the stage should be placed and put it accordingly, with the help of the Backdroppers. However, IT STARTED TO RAIN! So we had to carry the podiums back into the corridor and help the Structure girls untie their structure, keep the poles and lashings. By the time we were done, it stopped raining so we had to carry the podium out and place it according to plan again. We were able to squeeze some rehearsal time before it started to rain again. This time, we went to the Den with Amanda to get the dry sheets to cover the podium as we were tired of carrying it back into the corridor and having to carry it out again. When we were done, it stopped raining! Oh, how I hate the rain! So we folded the dry sheets and kept them in the corridor and wasted no precious time by rehearsing immediately.

In the meantime, the others were practicing Campfire songs at the corridor before moving out to the Parade Square to watch us rehearse. Soon, 5pm came and it was time to fall in to be dismissed. Announcements were made and consent forms for the Orientation Campfire were given out by the PSes. Everybody could go except Item girls as they had to help carry back the Podium.

Hi!
It's been a long time since i've last posted on this blog. 38 days to be exact. :O Well, we had an unofficial meeting today from 7.55am - 1pm.

At 7.55am, we fell in and reported strength. Unfortunately, not everyone could be present, despite efforts to persuade them to come for this meeting as they had other commitments. After that, we were given 3min to change out of our pinafores. Then, we fell back in again and were told to split into our different components later. For Item, 2 girls did not turn up so that meant we might have difficulty rehearsing.

Everyone had until 11.30am to get ready for the 'Campfire Trial 1'. Item spent the whole morning rehearsing, both non-full dress and full dress. Natalie and Amanda sat in to look at our performances for awhile before leaving. However, the PLs' absence did not mean 'slacking time'. Nataile instructed us to rehearse the performance 3 times, without stoppages. Which meant the dance-and-song item had to flow smoothly with the skit, just like a real performance. Following that, we had to do a full dress rehearsal 3 times too. We practiced really hard and finally when we were done, we took a break. Whilst doing that, Amanda popped by to check on us and found us sitting and she felt we were slacking! Oh no! :0 So we continued practicing until it was time for the trial.

At 11.30pm, we fell in and the PLs wanted non-understudies to report progress for each component. Soon, the trial bagan. Unfortunately, it started to drizzle so the Structure girls had to quickly untie their structure and keep the poles and the Firepitters had to keep their zinc sheet, firewood, sand and bricks too. After awhile, it stopped drizzling. It was then that we were able to continue with the trial. By then, it was 12pm. The emcees were Cheryl and Joycelyn. They started with campfire songs. Soon, it was time for our performance but we were all nervous as the seniors were present! Joey, Tristina and Eunice Lee! :0 (and Charis was still suffering from nervousness!) Haha. Poor girl. :(

When the trial ended, we fell in but the Item girls soon had to fall out. This was because Natalie and Amanda wanted to give us their feedback on our performance. In addition, the seniors also wanted to give us their feedback. Here is what the PLs and seniors said:
1. We must look more enthusiastic.
2. Our actions must have more 'life'.
3. Even if we're sick of doing this, we still have to give it our best shot.
4. Smile when you should be smiling during the performance.
5. We should put in more effort and do it well as it will pay off during the real event.
6. We must sing loudly during the song-and-dance item

Such were the feedback given. As you can see, there was no positive feedback so this only meant that we put up a lousy performance, to be blunt. To make things worse, the seniors found out that we had not even tried performing on the real stage. This made them really worried as they said performing on ground level and on the stage is a totally different thing. :( So, on the next meeting, we have to try performing on the real stage. While we were receiving our feedback, the rest were practicing some of the campfire songs as they also did not sound enthusiastic.

Soon, 1pm came and we fell in. Announcements were made and we were then dismissed.

Hello!
We had an unofficial meeting on Wednesday, 18 November from 7.55am - 1pm. This whole meeting would be solely for the final step to finishing the preparations for Secondary4 Farewell - FULL DRESS REHEARSAL!

We fell in at 7.55 and changed out of our pinafores. Then, we grabbed our props and costumes and headed to the Hall for rehearsal. PSes handed Kai Li the CDs which contained songs for the patrol items and had to go up to the control room to tell Kai Li and Nia when to play the CDs. They started out by familiarising themselves with the many buttons and trying to play the discs. Soon, the rehearsal could start but we were not going to perform with our costumes yet. During the rehearsal, Natalie commented on the people who had to use the microphones, namely the emcees and judge, that they had to either speak up as they were too soft and could not be heard or that they had to be more enthusiastic when they spoke.

When the rehearsal had ended, we went on to practice GOH. The PLs made sure we didn't fidget or laugh. Even Natalie went to everyone of us, trying to make us laugh! She did silly stuff like standing right in front of us, making sure the only thing we saw was her face and bobbing it up and down. I managed to keep a straight face by distracting myself from her efforts to make me laugh. How? I was singing 'ABC' in my head. Sounds silly but it works. Haha. :) Suddenly, there was a blackout in the Hall and the Badminton players came running out. Kai Li and Nia then had trouble booting up the system as it had affected the whole electric circuit in the Hall. They then had to call our IT technician to help us. However, I think it could not work so the rehearsal and Badminton training had to be postponed.

With some time left, we were told to go to an empty classroom to practice further. We started off by practicing the dance and when Nia saw us doing the 'Nobody' dance, she joined in and Joycelyn recorded her dancing. Haha! :) However, my group only practiced for awhile before getting tired. To get us to do something and not waste time, Joycelyn made us play 'Murderer'. It was rather fun except when Dorothy could not remember how many taps would determine our role so while Clara went around tapping our backs if we had a role, Joycelyn was busy chanting '1 tap murderer, 2 taps detective and 3 taps docter'. It was simply hilarious! :)

Soon, 1pm came and we fell in. While waiting for the wallets bag, Kai Li taught us 2 songs that she had learnt from the Secondary3 Adventure Camp. We were going to sing 1 of them tmw for the seniors. After that, announcements were made and we were dismissed.

Hi!
We had an unofficial meeting on Monday, 16 November from 7.55am - 5pm. I'm sorry for this late post. Time was really tight so I had no time to post because we had 3 meetings this week! :0 Alright. Now for the details ..

We fell in at 7.55 and then changed out of our pinafores. The first half of the meeting would be dedicated to the Secondary1 Orientation Campfire Preparation followed by Secondary4 Farewell Preparation after lunch. It was all about PREPARATIONS! Haha. We split into our components and headed to our respective venues. I was glad because on that day, we had more Item-ians present! :) However, Ada and I knew that it was going to be tough because Natalie was absent, due to an upside down tummy! Which somehow meant that there would be less discipline .. :(

With more people present in Item, it was definitely much more easier to rehearse as we could see how the real characters perform and correct them if they made any mistakes. Besides rehearsing the skit, we also choreographed a few new moves for the song 'Caritas'. This was because we were going to dance in groups of 3 as there were 9 Item-ians. After that, we tried to choreograph the dance for 'One Family' but we just could not. Eventually, we decided to ask Natalie if we could change the song. She said to put it on hold first and focus on the skit and 'Caritas'.

Later, while we were taking a break, Kai Li and Nia came into the classroom and they wanted to see us perform the entire package : skit and dance. We then performed for them and they gave their comments after that, such as 'needing more facial expressions' and 'having more precise dance steps'. When they left, we tried rehearsing again, taking into account the PLs comments. It was better. Then, YA came and she also wanted to see our performance so we performed again. This time, comments given were different from what the PLs gave. She said our performance was CUTE. Haha. She even said that Charissa looked like the younger version of Charis! :0 All in all, she enjoyed it and that was relieving.

We continued to practice and before we knew it, lunch time came at 1.30! Yay! :) We had until 2.30 to eat and relax before the next set of preparations began. Soon, we fell in at 2.30 and were told to go to classrooms on the ground floor to practice. We had only 1hr to rehearse before showing the PLs our performance. This year, there was going to be lesser performances as we would only be having 3 patrol items. This was because Flowerpecker had combined with Sparrow, Oriole with Mynah (to form OMG patrol which stands for Oriole and Mynah the Greatest) and Dove with Kingfisher. However, Dove and Kingfisher only decided to combine during the last 10minutes so not much rehearsing could be done and we had nothing to show to the PLs. :(

Performance time came and we soon fell in at the Parade Square. We were told to get our props and come back quickly to start the performance. The first combined patrol to go was Flowerpecker and Sparrow but they could only perform for the first 10minutes before it started to rain so we all gathered in a classroom and the performance resumed. When it came to Dove and Kingfisher's turn to perform, we told the PLs that we weren't ready as we had just decided to combine and apologized. Kai Li then told us to go to the next classroom and we spent the rest of the meeting there, discussin and practicing.

However, we soon ran out of time as it was already 5pm and we had no idea how fast time had flown! Everyone then fell in at the empty space next to the Parade Square. Announcements were made such as having to collect our Anti-Drug Abuse badge and certificate from the den and remembering to bring disposable plastic water bottles. After that, we were dismissed.

Sorry, I've officially run out of ways to say hello so I have to resort to greetings in other languages. Haha. Anyway, we had an unofficial meeting yesterday (9 November) from 7.55 - 5pm. The reason behind why we needed so much time was because we were going to continue preparing for the Secondary1 Orientation Campfire and do mass testings.

We fell in at 7.55, changed out of our pinafores and split into our components to continue with our preparations. As Firepit had run out of kerosene, they could not do anything so they went to help Backdrop with the backdrop. :) Structure began tying their bridge and this time, the bridge was going to have a little twist. Instead of the usual, having the platform supported on poles, it was going to be SUSPENDED! :0 That's so cool. However, the Structure girls have yet to test if it's safe. Meanwhile, Item girls were busy rehearsing their skit.

Firstly, Natalie made us read out our lines and then she made comments like we had to have more expression and such. Then, we tried acting it out and again, Natalie corrected us time and again. It was so tiring! :( She went into details like focusing on speech, actions and stage directions. There are altogether 5 scenes and for each scene, Natalie went 'cut' a thousand times and we had to re-act. I then suggested that she video us acting so that we could see how we act. :) Although we got very tired, it paid off as we were more aware of our actions. Despite all these efforts, we knew we still had to re-do them as NO Secondary1s were present on that day so they would not know what to take note of and such. :(

Then, lunch time came and before going off, Natalie asked the understudies of the progress of their components. Later, we took a 1hr break before falling in at 2pm. From then on, we did mass testings. We went to a Secondary1 classroom and the PLs told us to get into groups of 3 and choose an article from the newspapers we had brought. Using that article, we had to write a summary of it and 2 thoughts and feelings. After that, a presentation of it was required and each person had to speak for 1 minute. Unfortunately, it started raining so the 'unlucky' ones had to raise their voices. Poorthing. :( Haha. When everyone had finished presenting, we went onto the next testing.

This time, we had to show 2 uses of a triangular bandage and a roller bandage. In addition, we also had to do a write up, answering questions such as:
1. Explaining the objective of 1st aid in today's society
2. Stating what we would do under given circumstances (accidents)

The total marks for this testing was 70 and the passing mark was 49.

After that, 5pm came and we fell in. Announcements were made and we were then dismissed.

Kay, I'm done. It's so late. Gotta sleep now.

Ello!
We had an unofficial meeting yesterday from 7.55 am to 1pm. The main objective for the meeting was to get one of our testings (to be done in groups) done. We fell in at 7.55 and then changed out of our pinafores. When we fell back in, the PLs asked us if we had brought our recyclable materials. Everyone except the PSes wore a puzzled look. Kai Li then asked us who did not bring them and everyone except the PSes and Kingfisher Patrol raised their hands. The PLs were very surprised and Sherwynn immediately said that Kai Li said the items were to only be brought by the PSes but Kai Li said no, that it was not true. So, everyone now had to share their recyclables.

Following that, we all headed to Computer Lab 1 and sat in groups of 6. The PLs then made sure that every group had at least 1 bag of recyclables. When all this was done, Nia briefed us on what we were going to do. We were going to either:
1. Pick an endangered animal and find out how it became endangered and what we should do about it
2. Save a particular resource
3. Find out about a substance that is harmful to our environment

My group did the topic on the endangered animal. We were told to create an advertisement poster using our recyclables to educate our audience on the chosen topic. We would have to score 70/100 marks to pass this testing. 20 marks for creativity, 30 marks for enthusiasm, 20 marks for use of recyclables and so on. We had until 10.30 to finish our poster and to discuss how we were going to present it. In the course of doing it, we were treated to entertainment - listening to songs by Westlife. Sigh, those good old days.

However, when 10.30 came and Kai Li asked if we were done, we said no. Thus, she gave us more time. Eventually, all groups finished their poster and the PLs collected it. Then, we practiced singing the Secondary 4 Farewell song before splitting into our patrols to further discuss preparations for this event.

At 12.55, we fell in and announcements were then made. After that, we were dismissed.

Kay, I'm done. This is the 1st time I've posted at such an early time. Haha. :)

Wassup!
We had an unofficial meeting today from a whopping 7.55am to 5pm! :0 Such a long time was needed as we had to prepare for both Secondary One Orientation Campfire and Secondary 4 Farewell. We fell in at 7.55 and were told to change out of our pinafore.

Secondary 1 orientation campfire preparation soon began. The various components went to their respective venues, ie: Item and Backdrop at canteen and Structure and Firepit at Parade Square. Everyone then started to get busy with whatever they had to do. The goal of Item was to finish making all the props, read through the lines and try to memorise them. Thanks to our hard work, we managed to achieve our goal. Yay! :) Backdrop was also getting along fine with their progress. Structure was busy tying Quadrapods and Firepit was busy soaking firewood in kerosene. However, as Firepit had run out of Kerosene, they spent their time helping Structure. How thoughtful! :)

Later when approaching 12pm, everyone was told to head to Computer Lab 4. There, we practiced the Secondary 4 Farewell dedication song with Kai Ying, ex PL of years 07/08. :) Firstly, she made us familiarise ourselves with the lyrics before getting each patrol to sing the 1st verse and chorus. Initially, we were shy to sing out loud so it took us awhile to break the ice. Soon, even without the music, we could sing without being shy about it! Progress! :) Lunchtime soon came at 1pm so we were dismissed from the lab and told that fall in would be at 1.45.

After we fell in when lunch ended, we went to an empty classroom on Level 4. There, we started with Secondary 4 Farewell preparation. Announcements were made by Nia such as:
1. Ask parents if they are alright with CCA going on when teachers are not present
2. Check if can attend both Secondary 4 Farewell and Bonding Camp

Then, we were given until 3.30 to rehearse before performing in front of the PLs. All patrols started planning their performances and some shifted to other vacant classrooms to rehearse too. However, as rehearsals took place, both Kai Ying and Eunice and her other friends came to request for volunteers for their project work. The volunteers would then have to dance randomly for 25 seconds. In an effort to persuade us, she even said that the video would not be posted on YouTube and it would be deleted after presenting. Soon, all the volunteers went to another empty classroom to perform. Getting everyone to dance and move was no mean feat. Everyone was so shy except for a few exceptionally enthusiastic ones. Eventually, it was only when Kai Ying and Eunice stayed then did we start dancing.

Following that, we had a little more time to rehearse before having to fall in at the open area next to the Parade Square. Announcements were then made, accompanied with comments from the seniors and YA before being dismissed.

As it was raining before, the knots of the structures that the Structure girls tied were extrremely tight. It took a lot of effort to untie them and on behalf of the coy, I would like to thank Kai Ying, Eunice and her friend Gabby for staying on to help us, even in the drizzle! :)

Ok. I shall stop here. Getting neck and back ache already. Haha.

Yoz!
Long time no post. Haha. It's been 50 days since I've last posted so I must try to get back to the normal posting tone. Alright, serious now.

An official meeting was held on 28 October from 2.30 - 5.30pm. We fell in at 2.30 and were told to change out of our pinafore. Then we had to get our stationery (pen and paper) and head to R401. Before we headed off, the PLs told us to brisk walk ourselves there without making any noise as there was an ongoing 'O' level examination.

We soon got to the classroom and found ourselves seats and started talking among ourselves. The PLs told us to lower our volume and we did..but only for a few seconds before it returned to its original volume. They repeated this for a few more times until Cheryl got mad and told us to SHUTUP! :0 This brought on a mini lecture from the PLs. Firstly, they asked us if we thought that we should be scolded but no one answered. Then, they told us the things that they were unhappy about :
1. Not greeting the PLS
2. Not having a sense of urgency
3. Not listening to the PLs

After that, we were informed that Secondary 4 farewell would be held on 19 November and the long awaited bonding camp would be from 23 - 24 November (which I can't attend). PSes were told to go to a separate classroom where a mini meeting was held. Kai Li, Natalie and Nia were present to talk to us. They first asked us what went wrong about an sms issue, our plans for the initiative, whether we had any problems with our patrol members and our opinion of the juniors (Secondary 1s). We then told them about whatever problems we were facing and Kai Li recorded all the important points in her trusty recording device (handphone). :)

Also, while discussing about the initiative, Natalie gave us some tips especially for activities which would be under organisations, namely SPCA and St Luke's ElderCare. She advised us not to set a confirmed date as the proposal would still have to be reviewed. Listening to our plans, both Kai Li and Natalie voiced out their opinions whenever they thought something had to be corrected. However, we soon had to move to another area as the janitors told us we were not allowed in the classrooms due to the examinations. Thus, we moved to the canteen.

Both the components, Item and Backdrop, were in the canteen while Structure and Firepit were around the Parade Square. Discussions and plans soon started and Item planned to finish writing the script by that day's meeting so we were racking our brains to come up with a good script. Meanwhile, poor Kai Li was having trouble getting the Backdroppers to do stuff. As they had already finished designing the backdrop, they had nothing else to do so Kai Li told them to do something but they did not want to so she got very upset. She came over to Item territory and complained to Natalie. Being a good friend and a strict PL, she scolded Backdrop and then split them into two groups before assigning duties. As they were taking their own sweet time to move, Kai Li started shouting at them. It was then that they all decided to hurry.

Soon, 5.25 came and we fell in at the Parade Square. Announcements were made and we were then dismissed.

Hey!
We had an unofficial meeting on Wednesday (2/9), from 2.30 – 5.30pm. That was our last Guides meeting. :( The next meeting would only commence until after our examinations had ended.

We fell in at 2.30 but had to do so at the sheltered empty space beside the parade square as it was drizzling. Next, those who had not eaten lunch were given time to eat. However, we were told by the PLs that this would be the last time we were going to be given time for lunch during meeting hours. This was because precious time would be lost from time taken to eat lunch. The rest were then told to change out of their pinafores. That day’s meeting was fully dedicated to the preparation of the Secondary One Orientation. :)

The PLs first announced our groupings for the different components, as there had been a shuffling of the groupings. I was initially from Structure but had been posted to Item. (The PLs must have either thought I had a calling to the Arts or Item would have brighter prospects with me included in there. KIDDING!) :) Anyway, Ada and I were made understudies of Item, Brenda, the understudy of Backdrop, Dorothy and Estelle, the understudy of Structure and Sherwynn, the understudy of Firepit.

Thereafter, we were told to proceed to two empty classrooms. Item and Backdrop occupied one classroom while Structure and Firepit occupied the other classroom. As Mrs Helen Tan had instructed that everything be different from last year, much work had to be done. Backdrop had to think of a new design for their backdrop, Item had to think of a new skit and Structure had to think of a different structure to tie.

At 3.30, the PLs told Structure and Firepit to lay out the poles for them to be sunned, as they were wet from the earlier drizzle. After that, they returned to the classroom to carry on with their discussions. Then, at 4.30, Cheryl told Structure to keep the black-white poles, starting from poles that were the dirtiest and unsuitable for tying structures, to poles that were the nicest. Following that, the two Quadra pods were placed on top of the poles with the flag pole above them. The blue-green poles were still not able to be kept yet as they were still wet.

Later, at 5pm, everyone fell in and we did foot drills. YA was present with us and she corrected any mistakes that were committed, ie: we were only allowed to take dressing when the command, kekanan lurus, was given. Also, that command could only be given if the coy was facing the initial direction. In the midst of the foot drill, PSes were told to fall out so that we could keep the blue-green poles and a few Secondary 1s also came to help. :) After doing so, we returned to the parade square to fall in and were later dismissed.

Hello! :)
We had an unofficial meeting on Wednesday (26/8), from 2.30 – 5.30pm. We fell in at 2.30 and PSes reported strength. We then had the usual inspection before changing out of our pinafores. After that, we were told to go to the outdoor stage area. There, Natalie briefed us on the change in testings and some important points to take note about them too. Here are the important points:
1. Natalie and YA have made changes to the testings
2. Each guide must have a BLUE testings file
3. The file must have a contents page which Natalie will provide
4. Always remember to FILE TESTINGS
5. Checking of files will be conducted
6. Study testings before date of test
7. If testings are failed too many times, there will be a punishment
8. Do not do new testings yet, if you do, they might not be accepted
9. When the new requirements for testings are finalized, a copy will be given to PSes
10. Patrol members are to check with PSes for the new requirements
11. ONLY if there are important questions, ie: how to do testings, then can patrol members ask PSes for Natalie’s number
12. DO NOT PRANK CALL NATALIE OR ASK DUMB QUESTIONS
13. For individual testing, everybody must have a copy of their testing
14. For group testing, one group member can keep the testing (preferably a reliable one) but it is better if each group member has the testing
15. Hand in testings to either Natalie or YA (preferably Natalie)

After the short briefing, those who were in the Structure component were assigned a task. Each senior was to be paired with either one or two juniors. Then, she had to teach them how to tie a squarelash knot and a quadrapod. Clara, Nicole, Caitlin and Charmaine were told to teach others rafting. :) Blue-green poles and yellow-orange poles were taken out, together with the lashings from the den. Work immediately began! We were given until 4pm to teach the juniors how to tie both the knot and structure until which they would be tested. Sadly, in the midst of teaching the juniors, it began to drizzle so we had to shift everything indoors (the corridor of the classrooms). From there, we continued with our teaching. Soon, the time came for the juniors to be tested. At 4.45, we were told to untie the knots, dismantle the structures and keep the poles. We then fell in and did footdrills! This continued all till 5 plus and when 5.30 came, we were dismissed.

Whilst teaching the juniors how to tie both the knot and structure, I felt that it was a form of revision for me. As I was checking my facts and ensuring that I was passing on the right knowledge to the juniors. Since I had not tied a knot and structure for a long time, I admit that I had committed A FEW mistakes but it was fine because I made sure that I learned from them! :)

Hi!
We had an unofficial meeting from 2.30 – 5pm on Wednesday (19/8). It was PS takeover and we had decided to do SRIT because YA had said that we needed to pass a few testings so we wanted to conduct the testings in a more fun-filled manner where everyone could bond instead of doing it individually. Fall in was at 2.30 and patrols reported strength. Thereafter, PSes fell out to prepare their stations while the others were given 5minutes to change into their dark-coloured T-shirts. Dorothy then announced the groupings to everyone and told each group who their leader was. After that, she told the group leaders to fall their groups in. We wanted to group the guides not in their patrols but in different groups because we wanted all the guides from different patrols to bond. Then, each group was given some time to think of a group name and a group cheer while the PSes continued to prepare their stations. As Ada’s station was rather complex in the preparation, some of the PSes who had already completed their preparation came to help. :)

Soon, the race began! Each group was given a clue and from there, they had to decide where their destination was. Some examples of the clues were:
-A picture of Donald Duck and Tigger representing the area outside the D&T room
-FLIED representing the field
-A picture of a monkey and bars representing the monkey bar area

My station involved taking safety measures to our home when going abroad. I made use of the corridor space from the toilet of the classroom area to the toilet next to the library. Each time a group came to my station, I would give them a scenario. I would tell them that they were going abroad and they had to conduct safety measures to protect their ‘house’ from robbery or any unwanted guests. They then had to switch off the toilet lights and close the cubical doors. Following that, if they had enough initiative, they could also tell me about the other safety measures that could not be done within the area, ie: informing the postman that he need not deliver letters as they would not be in town, locking all windows, ensuring gas taps were turned off and turning over all water-storing objects such as flower pots to prevent breeding of mosquitoes. Points were awarded for every correct safety measure taken, whether every group member participated and how enthusiastic they were. Points were deducted for every wrong safety measure taken too.

Sherwynn’s station involved searching in the toilet used for changing parade. Group members had to search every corner of the toilet for hidden items which would be needed for the next station. Of course, Sherwynn ensured the toilet was cockroach-free before opening the station. :) At the end, if group members were not able to find the required items, they would have to ‘buy’ the items using their points. Points were also added or deducted based on each group’s participation and enthusiasm.

Brenda’s station was located at the fitness corner which involved using the found items to repair certain objects, such as using the found item, thread, to sew a spoilt item. If the object was not repaired properly, the group member would have to unpick her sewing and repair it again. However, each group member was only allowed 2 tries. If she failed to repair the item within the 2 tries, she would not have passed that testing. Points were added and deducted based on enthusiasm of the whole group.

Ada’s station was located at the gallery steps which involved being able to cross the road safely which also meant being able to recognize the different signs on the road, ie: the box junction sign and the one-way sign. Similarly, points were added based on participation and enthusiasm of the whole group.

Dorothy was not in charge of any station. In fact, she was the ‘roving PS’, which meant she would go to any station which needed any form of help. In other words, she would be the most tired person in the whole coy because she would have to run all over the school. Thankfully, she is extremely fit so.. go Dorothy! :)

Through the preparation of this PS takeover, I have learnt to be more responsible. During the PS takeover, I know that I have committed a few mistakes and I will learn from them. Yes, the event turned into a mess because we were running behind schedule but we managed to pull through that difficult period and some people did not even realize there was a mess! :)If we were given another opportunity to organize such an event again, I am confident we would do better due to past experiences.

Hey!
We had an unofficial meeting yesterday from 2.30-4.30pm. We fell in at 2.30 and patrols reported strength. Dove patrol had full strength! :) Then, Mrs Tan said that for every meeting, a star would be given to each patrol which had full strength. Yay! After that, those who had not eaten lunch were allowed till 2.55 to eat. The rest of the others took their stationery and proceeded to an empty classroom where preparations for the upcoming secondary 4 farewell took place. Kai Ying, PL of 06/07, was also present with us. :)

Each patrol discussed within themselves what they wanted to do for the event and the atmosphere soon heated up due to excitement while planning. Later, we were asked to send a representative of each patrol to present our ideas. It was voluntary. Flower Pecker went first, followed by Mynah, Dove, Oriole, Sparrow and then Kingfisher. The PLs then gave constructive feedback about our plans, where necessary and told us that they wanted a script for each patrols performance by the next two meetings (26/8).

Following that, we fell in at the outdoor stage area where Kai Ying drilled us on our footdrills. She also reminded us about some common problems like ensuring our legs were at 90 degrees when marching on the spot and we had to keep marching until everyone’s legs were at 90 degrees before she told us to stop.

Soon, it was time to go home as it was already 4.30. We fell in at the parade square and announcements were made such as when the next meeting would be and Mrs Tan also informed us about the annual Guides’ Cookies Sale. Yummy! :) After that, we were dismissed.

Hello!
The 2nd Secondary 1 Enrolment Ceremony was held yesterday. The official meeting was from 3 – 5.30pm. We fell in at 3.05 and marched into the horseshoe formation. Thereafter, YA commended us, saying she was pleased that we were wearing non IJ socks. :) Next, colour party fell out (Oriole did flag and Charis was the flag bearer) and the flag broke nicely. Awesome!

We were then told to change in three and a half minutes into our PE attire. As we had exceeded the timing, we had to continue changing in and out for about 5 times before the PLs decided to stop. Phew. Then, we had to run from the canteen to the outdoor stage area to fall in. There, Kai Li read out the names of the people who had passed the Observer’s Proficiency Badge. I was one of them! :) We went over to Natalie to receive our test cards and headed back to the canteen to get our handbooks and stationery. We then proceeded to Computer Lab 4. Those who had not passed the Observer’s Proficiency Badge were re-tested and those who had already passed studied for other testings. Although we had to study and use our brain cells, we were in the comfort of the air conditioners! What more could we possibly ask for? We stayed there till almost 5pm and then left to change into our guides uniform.

Then, we fell in and Mrs Helen Tan commented on the length of our socks. She told the PSes to go down their patrols and pick out those whose socks were too short. At the same time, they also had to choose a role model who had a good example of the length of socks to represent their patrol. Hazel represented Dove, Nicole represented Flower Pecker and Mirabelle represented Kingfisher. Kalyani represented Mynah and so on. She then picked the best role model and it was Mirabelle from Kingfisher Patrol! :) Then, we went to the field and fell in into the horseshoe formation and YA briefed us on the process of the Enrolment Ceremony for those who had forgotten. It then began! First, Vanitah from Dove was enrolled, followed by Shu Hui from Flower Pecker and Kalyani from Mynah. Also, Nicole from Oriole and Rebecca from Sparrow. Congratulations! After that, YA sprang a surprise booking of improper uniform on us. Oh no! :O Offences included hair touching the crest and uniform not worn properly, ie: Shirt not tucked in fully such that whole belt could be seen. Announcements were then made and we were then dismissed.

I'm the new Historian, succeeding Natalie(good job on the posts)!
Just a brief introduction, I'm from DOVE patrol! Yay! :)
Ok. Serious business now.

We had an unofficial meeting today from 2.30-4.30 but those who had to march for NDP had to stay on till 5.15 to practice with Red Cross. We fell in at 2.35 and were told to go to an empty classroom on Level 3. There, we played a game of cherades while waiting for the others who were having lunch. When everyone was present, the PLs introduced themselves, ie: Natalie was the Training Secretary who was in charge of testings & footdrills. Following that, PSes had to introduce themselves too, ie: 'Hi. I'm (name) from (patrol) and I'm a (state position ie: Historian) and my job is (state role). Then, we were briefed on very IMPORTANT issues regarding discipline, attire & extra information. Here are the very IMPORTANT
issues:
1. Must have a sense of urgency
2. Must greet guiders, teachers, YA, PLs and seniors in UNISON
3. FBTs and ankle socks are NOT ALLOWED
4. Must wear WHITE school related T-shirts
5. After 5 warnings have been issued, everyone must run 3 rounds around the track
6. Must always have water bottles with us wherever we are
7. Must hand in assignments ON TIME
8. Must include name, class, patrol and reason for buying product and give the receipt to Amanda within 2 weeks of purchase to claim money from coy fund
9. The reciting of ABCs have been abolished, though they STILL APPLY
10. Re-assigning of patrol roles by PSes (no assistants are allowed, ie: assistant quarter mistress)
11. Logbooks will be checked fortnightly
12. Must attend two campfires every year
13. 2 more camps will be held this year (combined camp & secondary 1 orientation) and another 2 next year (June annual campfire & FUN BONDING camp) :)

Next, we had to go to the parade square. Non-marchers for NDP celebration played games such as Double Wacko and marchers for NDP celebrations started practicing. At 4.35, we were dismissed and the marchers continued to practice.

This is my 1st time marching for an important occasion so I was nervous even during practice. However, I had fun as I managed to understand what was going on and be able to march correctly. I thought the action of bringing our fist to our heart was pretty cool! :)

Alright, my fingers are getting numb. Haha.

Hey :)

Sorry for this late post (you will probably want to find out who got promoted :D ).

Before we fell in at 3pm, we had to take our temperature and YA also told those of us who were not wearing proper uniform to stand and point out what was wrong. Offences include short skirts, not wearing non-IJ white socks and other coloured hair accessories. After that, we fell in and then marched into our horseshoe formation. Colour party fell out and Wei Jing from Mynah Patrol was the flag bearer. After the flag broke, YA taught us a new way of handing over known as "striping". The current PSes had to march out and into a straight line and after having done so, the new PLs (announced by YA) stepped forward and stood in front of their respective ex-PSes. The PSes would then present the two white stripes and shake hands, and after that everyone went back to their original positions. The "old" PLs also had to do the same, and the new PLs then took over. Okay, I shan't keep you in suspense any longer. Here's our new PLC and PSC 09/10! :

Congratulations to the new PLC and PSC!!! :D

Yup, after the Handover ceremony was over, we fell out and had a bit of changing parade. However, before we had the party, the ex-PLs had a little "game" for us. One person from each patrol had to run up to the fourth storey and shout out our patrol's name loudly before going down again. Upon hearing our patrol's name being called, the next person would then run up. We had to make sure that the patrol runs up a total of eight times, so some people had to run twice. The slowest patrol had to do a forfeit. Unfortunately, Dove was the slowest, and the forfeit included: :)
-proposing to a shoe and declaring one's undying love for it
-acting as a geeky RI boyfriend (of Bernie's!)
-acting as Tristina (an "aunty")
-and singing "Cannibal King"

After that, we were allowed to have our party :) we ate till around 5 and then we had to clear up. After clearing up, we fell in and sang taps and had announcements. And we took our wallets, thanked our Guiders and went home. :)

Monday, 8th June, 7.55am-11.59pm :), Official Meeting

CAMP!

We fell in at 7.55am, and Melissa from Dove Patrol was the flag bearer. She broke the flag and after we said the promise and the colour party marched back to their positions, our YA came to talk to us about our uniform. She reminded us to wear our uniform correctly and neatly, as some of us were rather messy. YA reminded us that our hair should not be touching the crest on our scarves-if it is, we should tie two plaits. Our belts are not supposed to be hanging loosely by the hips, and our shoes should be white or we would have to use a shoe whitener the next time. Our socks also have to be pure white and at least 2cm above the ankle, so no IJ socks are allowed. To add on, watches were not allowed too, as they were considered as accessories. Next, we fell out and changed out of our uniforms.

However, we failed to change within the given timing and thus proceeded to do changing parade. Our timing became worse, and the PLs told us that we would have to change until we could hit the given timing. The PLs also told us to take care of our belongings and to be more careful when we changed as we had the tendency to drop our badges and belt loops. We tried to help one another and did a bit of footdrill in between. Finally, we managed to change around the given timing, and that marked the end of our 1/2hour changing parade. Next, we brought all our bags to the parade square and the PS of the day fell us in. We had inspection of bags and had to surrender any undesirable materials. We also had to give our medication to Joycelyn, First Aider.

After inspection was completed, we had to run to the basketball court while the First Aider of our patrols collected the First Aid boxes. The PLs then introduced us to a point system created for this camp. Each patrol is given 100points at the start, and any mistakes committed will result in the deduction of points. Mistakes include leaving the first aid kit lying around. Next, we gathered in our patrols and had to take part in Patrol Identity. We had to design a patrol flag using the cloth and paints and we were given about 1/2 hour. Everyone rushed to collect the materials and started. At the end of the activity, each patrol then had a colourful flag which they were supposed to take care of and bring it with them wherever they went.

We then had water parade to prevent dehydration and the PLs asked for two volunteers from each patrol to collect the materials needed for tent-pitching. When they were back, everyone started pitching our tents. We laid the newspaper and groudsheet, connected the metal poles etc and slowly, the tent began to stand. When we were done, we tied a taut string across the two verticals and tied our flysheet on to prevent the rain from seeping through. We also completed a shoerack and placed bits of aluminium on our twine. The PLs supervised and helped out too, and sprinkled sulphur powder around our tent to prevent rats and snakes from coming. When we were done, we placed our bags inside the tents and took out our dishbag and cutlery for lunch before zipping our tents up.

We assembled at the canteen and after collecting our food, we said Grace and ate. We were given some time to clear up too, and then next we had to take our writing materials and handbook and find an empty classroom. It was time for us to complete our testings. We completed different sorts of testings, including written and a skit on social etiquette. When we were done, we had to fall in at the parade square.

The next activity was SRIT, and we combined patrols: Dove with Flowerpecker, Kingfisher with Mynah, and Oriole with Sparrow. We were given some clues and after we fell out, we gathered within our two patrols and tried to decipher the meaning of the clue, which led all of us to a classroom on the fourth floor. This station required us to take items from the lockers which may help us in our activities later on. The three combined patrols then split up as we were given different clues. The stations included a First Aid station, where we had to answer a few questions and then tie the appropriate bandages for a "victim" given the senario. Another one required us to imagine that we were in a jungle, and we had to carry two injured members from one end of the corridor to the other. We also had to make our way through a spider web to pick up pieces of paper which contained the Guide Laws. We had to identify which of the given were correct, and then arrange them in numerical order. The last station required us to sing cheers along with actions, and pretend that we are a band or some pop group and sing a Guides song with a different tune. These activities tested us on our first aid skills, Guiding knowledge, our enthusiasm level as group, our initiative and it also helped us to bond with each other. :)

When we were done, we went back to the parade square. After drinking some water, the YA and PLs taught us a new command. We had to fall in according to our height and then shout out "Satu" and "Dua" and remember if you were number one or two. Then those who were number one had to take a step forward while number twos took a step back. Then we had to march into three roles and then take our dressing. This required us to discipline ourselves and cooperate and work as a group, because if one person makes a mistake, everyone would have to do it again. When we were done, we then took our cutlery and dishbag again and went to the canteen for dinner. Most of us were starving and cleared our plates quickly. After dinner, we had to take our soap, shampoo, towel and clean clothes as it was time to shower. We were given three minutes each with a few exceptions. Failure to come out of the cubicle within three minutes led to vigouress banging on the door. :)

When all of us were done, we proceeded to Computer Lab 4 for Movie Time! x) We got to pick between Alvin and the Chipmunks, Twilight, Cars and License to Wed. We chose the last one and enjoyed ourselves watching this movie which was a mixture of romance and comedy. When the movie ended, PS of the day had to take writing materials and meet in the Com lab for COH, while the rest of us washed up. Lights out was at 11. Some of us cleared the tent while the rest helped the scribe of the day with the scribe book, and others helped to polish our enrolment badges. We also had biscuits and milo for supper, and when we were done, we went to the tent to prepare for bedtime. Soon, it was time to sleep.

Tuesday, 9 June 2009, 7am-5pm, Official

We woke up at 6am, washed up, changed into our guides uniform and got ready for inspection. We fell in at 7am, and Dorothy from Kingfisher was the flag bearer. After fall out, Mrs Tan told us to run one round around the field as we did not greet her loudly. We had to sing a Guides song or say a cheer loudly or we would have to keep running. We ended up running 2 rounds. Next, we had inspection. When we were done, we ran to the basketball court for P.T (physical training). The PLs told us not to look so zombiefied, and although we were tired, let's just try to give our best and since we are already at camp, why not just make full use of the last day. We had to do the suicide run for PT, and this was followed by a warm up session conducted by Oriole. After warming up, Kingfisher volunteered to teach us some Kung-Fu moves which the whole COY had to follow. When we were done, we went for breakfast.

After breakfast, everyone went to Com Lab 4 with our stationery and foolscap to take part in testings which we had to pass in order to attain our Observer's proficiency badge. We had to take part in 4 Kim's games. The first one required us to blindfold ourselves and sit in our patrol, while the PLs passed around objects. We had to feel the objects and remember the 10 of them, and after we took off our blindfolds, we had to write down as many objects as we could remember touching. We had to pair up for the next Kim's game, and one of us had to sit with our back facing the screen while the other facing the screen. The one facing the screen had to describe the picture that she saw while her partner had to draw the picture described and vice versa. We then had to hand in our pictures and the third section was that we had to watch a short clip on a kiwi and answer questions on that. The last part was to watch an advertisement and then write a story based on that. After we were done, we had to run to our tents. We changed out of our shorts into our bermudas and assembled at the basketball court.

A good portion of the day was dedicated to outdoor cooking. Each patrol was given $25, which we had to spend on our food, bearing in mind that the food should be healthy and no instant noodles were allowed. We were allowed to go to Toa Payoh central to purchase our food. When we came back, we washed our equipment and started cooking, each hoping to win the Best Dish award. When we were done cooking, everyone finished up their lunch while the PLs sampled the food. Then we had to clear up. After we were done, it was already 3+pm, so we had to unpitch our tents and wash the groundsheets if they were dirty.

Everyone helped out and when we were done, we fell in at the basketball court and practise the command which we had learnt yesterday. Our seniors were here too, and they helped us with our footdrill. When we were done, everyone had to run to an empty classroom for AGM. We were given 3minutes to prepare our speech and then we started with the Sec 2s. We were given aminute to speak and then we had to answer questions that the seniors and PLs asked. We also helped to speak on behalf of those who were not here. When everyone was done, we had to fall in outside and listen to the announcements. Then we fell out and fell in at the field. Dorothy lowered the flag after we sang taps, it was time to give out the prizes.

This Training Camp has certainly been enjoyable, helping us to revise our tent-pitching and outdoor-cooking skills, which are important for Guides :) The activities for this camp has inculcated values such as persistent, teamwork and cooperation, confidence, discipline, respect, optimism and good leadership. We really grew close to each other, especially within our patrols, which is essential for a successful and memorable journey in Guides :) . Hopefully, everyone managed to learn some skills, acquire some knowledge and make friends during this camp! XD

Sec 1 Enrolment :)

Friday, 5 June 2009, 2.30-5.30, Official Meeting

Sorry for posting this late!

We fell in at 2.30, and Estelle from Sparrow Patrol was the flag bearer. After the flag broke and we said the promise, we ran up to the hall for enrolment. Ms Lakshmi was there, and we fell in and marched into our enrolment positions. The PLs led the sec ones starting from Dove all the way to Sparrow, and we saluted to the new guides. After everyone had to shiny badge pinned to their scarf, we fell out and went to change out of our guides uniform. But as we did not manage to finish changing within the time limit, we did changing parade, and the PLs picked out the uniforms that were not neat. After awhile, the seniors fell out to prepare for the party while the Sec 1s continued with changing parade.

When the Sec 1s were done, they joined us and took their places that we assigned for them at the table. We presented our gifts, and Sparrow said Grace. Then we went to pop our sparkling juice and started eating. There was a variety of food and drink, and everyone enjoyed themselves. Soon, we had clear up the canteen. We seperated the sparkling juice bottles from the rest of the trash, and the PLs told us to volunteer if we were not afraid of cockroaches :p. The rest of us cleaned up the canteen and then we had to fall in. Estelle lowered the flag and we sang taps and then fell out. The PLs told us to teach the juniors how to sing taps, and then we thanked our Guider, collected our wallets and went home :)

Saturday, 23 May 2009, 7am- 2pm, Unofficial Meeting
South Division Day 2009 :)

We assembled in school at 7am and fell in. Enrolled guides were dressed in their guides polo tee and skirt and unenrolled guides were in their p.e attire and pinafore. Everyone had to hand in their consent forms and the PSes whose members were missing had to call them. When everyone arrived, we went up the bus, which brought us to Camp Christine.

We alighted and everyone helped to carry the gadget poles and materials that we had brought along for the competition. Then, we went inside the camp and sat on the flight of stairs of a building. Our Guider, Ms Soh, went to the Olave Hall to attend a briefing. When she came back, the representatives of each component had to meet her. Ms Soh told us the colour codes for our activities i.e, the areas in which we were to carry out our activities were labelled with colours eg, the areas marked green were for tent-pitching. Soon, it was time to begin the competition. Each component went to their respective areas for a short briefing before starting the activity. While the guides worked tirelessly in each component, our YA and PLs were walking around, taking photographs and giving us their moral support and encouragement. XD

When some of us were done, we went around to visit the other components too. It was quite interesting to watch how everyone performed. Finally, when everything was completed, our guides gathered for our lunch- noodles and chicken. Yum :). Then, the tent-pitchers had to un-pitch our tent and some of the other guides helped out too. Finally, when everyone was done, it was time to present the prizes....

For flag identity, our school sent in 2 teams, the first consisting of Nia, Jasmine, Charmaine and Shaloam, and the second consisting of Pamela, Kai Li, Breena and Charissa. Both teams clinched the top three positons- third and second respectively. Congratulations and well done, Guides!

Though the rest of us did not manage to secure the top three positions in the other components, we have tried our best and enjoyed ourselves. We have learnt new skills and made new friends, and most of all, regconised the importance of teamwork and cooperation. We have kept the IJ Guiding spirit burning bright, and made CHIJ and HIJ 1st COY proud! Keep up the good work, everyone! XD. With that, we left Camp Christine and returned to school. We fell in and the PLs reminded us that although some of us did not return home with prizes, everyone is a winner, and we did give our best shot in all that we did. Then, we fell out and went home :)

Hi:)

First Guide meeting held after the Mid-year examinations today, from 2.30-5.30, unofficial. We fell in and had inspection and patrols report strength. Then, we fell out and were given two minutes to change out of our pinafores. We fell in again in our South Division Day components and the PLs told us to start preparing after fall out, and to bring our water bottles along. So everyone split up into their components: kitchen dresser, outdoor cooking, flag identity, patrol identity and tent-pitching. A few groups shared the same classroom as there were only a few people in each group present (sec ones had to go for general leadership programme), and it was also more convenient for the PLs as we will not be spread over a large area.

Those in outdoor cooking, the two flag identity groups and those in tent-pitching shared a classroom. For tent-pitching, we went through the theory with the help of our guides handbook, but we could not practice as we did not have a canvas tent. After awhile, we went to visit other components to try and help. The two flag identity groups painted their banners and the outdoor cooking members discussed on what was to be done. The guides in patrol identity and kitchen dresser were also preparing and practising.

Kai Ying came back too and the PLs walked around from time to time to offer assistance and comments. The flag identity groups had to present their banner to them and explain what the elements on the banner symbolises. Soon, it was around 5.30 and everyone fell in. There were some announcements made. Firstly, all reply slips for the South division day consent forms are to be returned to Bernadette by tomorrow. Secondly, the attire for South Division day is half guides uniform- guides polo tee and skirt complete with belt, buckle and cling-clang and shorts underneath. Sec ones are to wear p.e attire with their pinafore over. Thirdly, all sec ones are to bring $100 next Wednesday to buy their Guides uniform. Those who are in the financial assistance scheme are asked to bring as much as they can. Then, we fell out, thanked Mrs Tan and the PLs, collected our valuables and went home. :)
