Wednesday 18 February 2009 3-5.30 Unofficial Meeting
We fell in at 3pm, and there was inspection and patrols report strength. After that, we fell out, changed out of our pe attires and went to an empty classroom. As Thinking Day was nearing, we had to practise some thinking day songs and cheers.
Firstly, the PLs gave an introduction of what Thinking Day was about, and why do we celebrate Thinking Day. After making sure the Sec 1s had a general idea of Thinking Day, we launched into the songs. We sang songs such as "Cannibal King", "Edelweiss", "It's a small world" and "Linger". We also went through songs that were not so familiar like "Little Peter Rabbit" and "We are Girl Guides", which is sung to the tune of "Clementine". The PSes were also supposed to have printed out the song sheets for Thinking Day for the Sec 1s.
Next, the seniors had to move to the next classroom, while the Sec 1s remained and did their tenderfoot testings and colour party. 2 seniors were needed from Mynah and Sparrow Patrol to assist the Sec 1s for colour party. The 4 of them went to the parade square while the rest continued singing.
We had to revise with the Sec 1s the proceedure and train them in their flag tying and marching. After a while, the Sparrow Sec 1s went first. By the time everyone had a turn, there was no time for the Mynah Sec 1s, so they had to do it another day. Xiu Hui, Kai Ying, Eunice and Sheena came back too. :) As it was nearly 5.30, Sheena fell us in. Some Sec 1s ran across the horseshoe while others fell in after her hands were down. It took quite sometime before everyone fell in. Then we listened to the announcements. This Friday, everyone would have to go to the Singapore Indoor Stadium for Thinking Day Celebrations, and we would have to be in our guides uniform. However, the Sec 3s would not be able to join in as they had Sec 3 Adventure Camp. After a few more announcements, we fell out, thanked everyone, collected our wallets and went home. :)

Thinking Day Celebrations! Friday 20th February 2009
After school, Qarissa fell everyone in, and the Sec 2s reported strength. During inspection, those guides whose badges were not polished had to fall out and clean them with brasso and cloth. After that, everyone fell out and had to carry our bags and line up. We boarded the bus according to our patrols. Everyone had to sing songs and cheers along the way, so as to warm us up.
When we arrived, we hurried to our allocated seats and got ready. Ms Yvonne Lim, Chief Commissioner fo Girl Guides Singapore and Mrs Joy Balakrishnan, President of Girl Guides Singapore arrived. This was followed by the arrival of Mrs S. R. Nathan. When everyone was present, the celebration started. Next was the world song, and Mrs Balakrishnan read out the World Thinking Day message. Ms Lim then addressed all of us, and everyone had to go throught the Renewal of Promise. Next, we observed a moment of silence as we were led in the World Thinking Day prayer and song. Following this was the presentation of World Thinking Day Pennies and Certificates and Plaques for Competitions.
We were entertained by the items performed by the North Division Brownies and Guides. Next was the presentation of the Puan Noor Aishah Award; Bronze, Silver and Gold, with performances from the South, East and West Division Brownies and Guides in between. We ended on a good note with the Guides Own and Brownie Bells and Taps.
It ended earlier than we expected, at around 4 plus, so we went back to school and fell in. The Sec 1s were reminded to stand behind the seniors in the horseshoe formation as they were not in uniform, and after some announcements, we fell out and went home. :)

Monday 23rd February 2009 2.30-4.30 Official
Thinking Day PARTY!!! :-)
We fell in at 2.30, and Sparrow was supposed to be in charge of the flag, but was raining, so we had to fall in indoors instead. We had inspection and patrols report strength, and Qarissa was there with us. Ms Lakshmi came and reminded us that after the party later, we would have to dispose our trash in the garbage bags given, and that we would have to keep the canteen clean. Next, we all had to kneel down to let the PLs check our skirt length. After some time, we had changing parade, and we improved from taking a total of 4 minutes to taking 3 minutes to change. As some people were late, everyone had to do some push ups as punishment.
Next up was the party :D We had lots of fun, and the party served as an opportunity to fill up our tummies with good food and to bond with the rest of the guides, especially our patrol members. We had to clear up at 4pm, and we were reminded to throw all our rubbish into the bags provided and not in the canteen dustbins Next, we had to fall in. The Sec 1s were reminded not to run across the horseshoe and had to stand behind the seniors. The PLs told us that for Official meetings, it is compulsory for everyone to bring their uniforms, and reasons such as they did not have time to wash were not accepted. Everyone also had to attend guides meetings, and not only when they felt like it, and if the PLs do not want to catch anyone not attending the meetings but still in school. Next meeting is this Wednesday, and everyone will have to bring their handbooks. After this, we fell out, thanked everyone and went home. :)

Wednesday 28th January 2009 Official Meeting 3-5.30
Hey :)
sorry for the late post...
Okay, the meeting on Wednesday was for the Sec 1s. So, at 3pm, we fell in at the field. Erika was there too. :) Oriole was in charge of the flag. Everyone fell in and then the colour party took over. The flag was not broken too successfully so we had to fall out. We changed out of our guides uniform and fell in again. After the flag broke, we all had to fall out and run to Computer Lab. 4.
Ms Lakshmi was there and she gave a small introduction about guides to the Sec 1s who were joining us, and told some of us to share our experiences about guides. Bridget volunteered and briefly talked about what activities we hold and her thoughts and feelings about being a guide.
Next, the PLs showed everyone the powerpoint presentation they had specially prepared for the Sec 1s. They gave an introduction about what guides is all about, and the structure of everyone involved, i.e the "hierarchy"- from the Guiders to the CL to the PLs, the PSes and the members. All the PLs and PSes were introduced too.
Next, the PLs told the Sec 1s that we meet up on every Wednesday and alternate Mondays, and that the school rules, such as wearing white-based track shoes or canvas shoes with school socks, still apply during meetings. Then the PLs moved on to the activities that we take part in. They covered dragon boating, combined camps (including pioneering and orienteering), campfires, courses e.t.c, and explained what each of these activities meant.
Next, everyone went out to the parade square and had some ice-breakers. We played double whacko. Some of us paired up with the Sec 1s and introduced them to the other guides. We had quite alot of fun. :) We played dog and bone next. We were divided into 2 teams, and the first team to earn 15 points wins, while the other team had to do a forfeit. The forfeit was to lay on the ground with our legs up and sing Gako with the actions.
Next, everyone gathered around and the PLs showed us some of the uniforms that they have confiscated. We had to point out what was wrong and some of us had to correct the uniforms. After that, we fell in, as it was nearly 5.30. We listened to some of the announcements. Ms Lakshmi told us that the CIP at the Guides House was cancelled as another school had submitted their names first. We had some other anouncements and then fell out, thanked Ms Lakshmi and the PLs, collected our wallets and went home. :D
Okay, that's it for now! I'll load the photos for Sec 1 Orientation and CCA Day asap. Sorry for the delay! :(
Thanks.
Natalie
