Wednesday 11 March 2009 3-5.30pm Unofficial
We fell in at 3pm and had patrols report strength. A few patrols had full strength today :). Mrs Tan came and talked to us about a few matters. Firstly, we must pass our testings in order to hold leadership positions in guides- to become a PS, one must have at least a bronze badge, adn to become a PL, one must have a gold badge. We were also reminded about our CIP hours- that if we have 100hrs of CIP, we will gain points for our LEAPS. Most importantly, we must attain 75% of overall attendance for the year, because the moment we fail to meet the requirement, all our points earned will be lost. Then we fell out and changed out of our pinafores.
We fell in again and the agenda for today was colour party for the Sec 1s and structure tying for the seniors. After we fell out, we were given 5 minutes to carry 16 black-white poles and 20 blue-green poles to the area near the outdoor stage. We ran to the pole area immediately, but exceeded the time limit by 3 minutes, so we had to fall in and run 3 rounds around the classroom block. No one was to jog or walk, or the number of rounds would increase. After running as a COY, we were all exhausted and had to fall in. We were given a minute to catch our breadth and had to do some stretches (led by Qarissa :)). Next, we did some footdrill. Those who kept figedting had to march on the spot until they were told to stop.
Next, each patrol had to tie and open up a quad. The aim was to make sure the Sec 1s understand what was going on and for them to practise their knots and learn how to tie a quad. We started tying the Clove Hitch, then we went round the poles and frapped, ending with the Clove Hitch again. We also let the juniors tie the quad, and when we were done, we opened the quad. We also tied stabilizers to the quad, teaching the sec 1s how to tie a squarelash, at the same time. After a while, all the patrols were done, and we helped each other to close the quad. We had to return the poles and then we fell in at the parade square.
We fell in in horseshoe formation, and there were some announcements that were made. Those who have not handed in the first aid forms and the money for camp/carnival tickets will have to give it to their PSes tomorrow. There will be photo-taking tomorrow too, so seniors will have to wear full guides uniform (including beret and gloves), and those who have received their bronze badges will have to put them on and sew on other badges too. The Sec 1s would also have to meet their PSes after school to collect the consent form for the combine camp. Lastly, our next meeting will be on the 18th of March, during our combine camp with the Catholic High Scouts. After all the announcements were over, we fell out, thanked Mrs Tan and the PLs, collected our wallets and home sweet home! :D
