Wednesday 7th Jan 09 3- 5.30 Unofficial

Hey :)

Now that Sec One Orientation is now over, CCA Day is next on the list! (Join Guides! :D) Thus, yesterday's meeting was dedicated to CCA day preparations. We fell in at 3, and had patrols report strength and inspection. The PLs asked who had not eaten their lunch, and Mrs Tan came so we greeted her. Mrs Tan said we would only be allowed 15 minutes for lunch today as the meeting starts at 3(not 2.30) but still ends at 5.30, so we are already half an hour short. For the next meeting, those of us who have late days will have to eat a heavier recess, and buy or bring from home a sandwich or something, so that we would not have to beat the crowd in the canteen after school.

Then we fell out and changed out of our pinafores. The PSes had to work on our banner for Thinking Day while the rest had to proceed to an empty classroom with their stationary for CCA day prep. Our theme for Thinking Day 09 is "Stop the spread of AIDS, Malaria and other diseases", and we have to link it with another theme "Together we can save the world". So we sat down and started making measurements on the piece of black cloth. We drew a boarder and started sketching and drawing on the banner using chalk. Eunice came to help us for a while (thanks for the burnol! :D). Ms Soh also came and watched us for a while.

While we were working on the banner, the rest of the COY were inside the classroom. We are going to give out mini-campfires and stickers to promote guides on CCA day, so some of them were cutting rectangular pieces of coloured paper, and some in the shape of a fire, while others were decorating the stickers.

At around 5.25, we fell in and listened to some announcements while waiting for our wallets. We needed 4 Guides to take part in the Wee Kim Wee Challenge, and these 4 guides would have to plant some herbs (with the help from the COY too), and cook traditional meals with the herbs. We also needed some Guides to take part in another activity, where we would have to take care of some elderly women, cook for them etc. These activities will require our full committment. Lots of profiency badges would be earned by taking part in these activities, and all these would help in attaining our PNA award too.

Lastly, every patrol would have to contribute 10 pairs of wooden chopsticks each- the square ones, not the round ones. Next meeting would be on Monday, 2.30- 4.30pm, unofficial. Then Ms Soh arrived with the wallets and we fell out, thanked everyone, collected our wallets and went home. :D
