Greetings!
Yesterday, a total of 36 guides headed for the Kallang Water Sports Centre, and were submerged (not literally, the boats didn't capsize) in the wonderful sport of DRAGON BOATING! We split up into 2 teams and had buckets (or should I say, bails) of fun. 4 very nice and funny instructors, 2 to 1 boat, taught the newbies how to paddle, and the 4 commands of dragon boating namely 1. paddles up, 2. hold water, 3. paddle forward, 4. paddle backward. The seniors who had already learnt how to dragon boat and had quite a fine experience with it just listened and took it as a 'refresher course'.
A total of 2 hours was spent in the water, and to end it all we had 2 races between each boat! After that we merged 2 boats into one and the outside rowers pushed us forward with their paddles. Then we switched sides and the new outside rowers did the same. We also had a really great time practising our aim and splashing the other boat everytime we got near! Funfunfun (: The sad thing though, was that we weren't able to do viking because the instructors were under strict instructions not to do that anymore. Oh well.
The weather? It was raining when we first set off from school, and in the chartered bus it rained even harder. But because of God's graces, it stopped raining when we neared the Kallang Centre! He maintained the weather throughout the duration. There was no sun, but it was still a fine breezy day! So none of our guides got a sunburn. Less prone to skin cancer! Haha.
Pictures... well, you guys know where to click!
