South Division Day
Hello! Yesterday was South Division Day!!
We assembled in school at 7.45, went to Kuo Chuan Presbyterian with Ms. Koh by bus and reached at around 8.10. After registration, all of us went up to the hall for a sing-a-long session. A few guides went up to the stage and led us in songs and cheers. We sang "Cannibal King", "Gako the Frog" and a few others.
Then, at around 9.30, everyone had to split up in their respective groups to take part in the activities they signed up for. Some of them include: Telematch, modified netball, boggle, taboo and frisbee. Almost every activity had a PL in charge of it. The activities were organised by the Guides from the different schools.
After their activities were over, some of our guides walked around the school, taking photographs and cheering the others on. The modified netball, telematch and frisbee activities were out in the open, and many of us went to watch.
I was in the modified netball, along with Qarissa (our team captain :D), Estelle, Dorothy, Clara, Melissa and Charis. We had to draw lots and we played with Zhong Hua Secondary and Raffles Girls and upon winning both matches, we qualified for the semi-finals. Then, we competed with S.C.G.S (if I'm not wrong) and won, thus, already securing either a first or second placing! Finally, we were against Cresent Girls (1st COY), and after a gruelling and exciting match, we won them too! :) So, we managed to clinch the 1st place for modified netball! Our guides were all standing by the sidelines cheering us on and supporting us.
After that, everyone had to go up to the hall for the Prize-giving Ceremony. We managed to get:
-1st for Modified Netball :)
-1st for Boggle (Nia and Jasmine) :)
Although we did not attain the top three positions for the other activities, we did play hard, enjoyed ourselves, and bonded with our fellow guides, and that was what mattered the most!
So after the prize giving ceremony was over, we fell in and took a few COY photographs too and went downstairs to wait for the bus. Those who were leaving from Koh Chuan Presbyterian left, and the rest of us went back to school and were dismissed.
Congratulations and well done, everyone, and keep the IJ spirit burning bright! :-)
